No branding on my stem/seatpost... quick wipe with some nail remover and it's just plain black now.

Is there a compelling reason why I shouldn't get this:
Instead of this:
for my GF's townbike/shopper? I'm sure the shimano is better but is she going to notice the difference, or more importantly am I going to have to replace it again in a month's time? The cheapo one will save me £20, so I guess, will the shimano last 3 times longer?

Would you buy a £8.99 freewheel for your own bike?

• #71756
If the dicta is the one I think it is, then its utterly shocking.
-
• #71757
I wouldn't buy any kind of freewheel for my bike.
But erring towards Shimano.
-
• #71758
will she be riding in bad weather or leaving it open to the weather?

"I wouldn't buy any kind of freewheel for my bike."
Right answer.
"But erring towards Shimano."
Well there you have it.

Very little miles I only use it around where I live to go to the local cinema, market, etc... It failed after 1 year (the spring inside the freewheel would not take the little tongue back into the teeth, and I was pedaling in the air...) This can be quite dangerous for your GF... You can be in traffic, need to get away from a gap or cross the road quickly and the freewheel doesn't respond when you push on your pedals... You can loose you balance and fall over, it happened to me, and to my friend who was using that bike once... As dangerous as a broken axle on a pedal... Stay away from it.

I mean stay away from it if you build a bike for someone else, I would eventually use it on a super cheapo beater bike if it was only for me, as I would know exactly what to expect from it...

Maybe he doesn't like his girlfriend?
-
• #71771
Fuck. Is this gonna be super safe and will it ever be ridden?
Safe fo sure, but it will be ridden. I test it today...

Nope, those are Mack's. DA's are going in Vivalo, but I can report something about them when I get them in use.

ah the yellow vivalo, how things are shaping up on that end? saw the stem and risers here some time ago
Deda kit is ugly.
I'm not talking about price or quality - I can't attest to those. I just know it looks bad.
Maybe just remove all the branding...
