Wouldn't you need a 109mm BB for a 42mm chainline?

Deda finishing kit.
If by finish it, you mean like at the end of a mortal kombat fight then sure.
That stuff is grim -

Goldtec and Phil Wood give a 44mm chainline though. Gran Compe is a 42mm. However, if it worked for you before then I won't argue. ;)
Nice plaster job by the way.

I know, but it's lying around so I'll use it for now. plus the stem is the right length for using bullhorns..

you may be right, but I ran Gran compe with EAI cog and 111mm Veloce bb on the Plum (before installing the PW bb) and it was fine...

1mm ain't nothing to cry over either way, could be lost in frame allignment easily enough.
With Paul hubs I needed a 111m BB with spacer drive side to get a happy chainline and they are 44mm I think, ideally I reckon you need a 115 BB to get it perfect.
If you go ahead painting it, sand the filler and the area to smooth it, and in fact lightly sand the entire area you paint, to key the paint and give a good base for the fade to stick to.

^thanks for the tip...

Tifosi fork is fine though, and is drilled for rides like the Dunwich Dynamo that I refuse to do brakeless.

Long fork is long, Alpina is drillable and hella sexier... Or you could just switch out the forks when you want a brake.

Good to see the tank making a reappearance after the clash with the Germans
(They were German right?)

Yup. quite a trooper too, she still made it to all the events she had tickets for at the Games, and left the operations till she got back to Germany.

Picked up the Witcomb on saturday.
Bla bla...
The frame is now back from Mario Vaz, I picked it up on saturday. I am really pleased with the colour. I was not sure what to go for and took the decision with Mario when I left the frame with him. I went to see the frame sand blasted before giving the final go ahead for enamelling, and it turned up that the lug work was a bit messy, and the rust had made a bit of cosmetic damage here and there. Structurally it felt sound, no cracks, etc... Impossible to garantee 100% anyway, but I will ride in confidence.
So Mario had to do a bit of tidying around the lugs and a bit of filling, and I think the final result is very good considering the original state of the frame. He suggested the "french touch" of the "blue/white/red" flag on the seat tube panel. That looks pretty cool I think, also I really like the fact that the white of the Witcomb downtube transfers and the the panels is slightly off-white. OK enough talking, thanks to Mario on this one!

So I have a few parts already, but if someone has some 175 or even better 177.5 cranks, they could let me know... HS has something very attractive at the moment, but I want to find something cheaper if I can... -

Didn't your old Geoffroy Buttler had a colour scheme a bit like that? -
• #71723
Very similar shade of blue, yes

is it just me or has mario vaz really developed his skills over the last 5 or so years?
witcomb looks very good. -

did you put a smaller wheel in the front to reduce pedal overlap?
started out as an experiment and ended up preferring the even more rigid feel when i'm out of the saddle sprinting... maybe just in my head but it feels much more stable hovering closer to the ground
hehe true!
One of the reasons I delayed so much was because (on Ryan's advice) I peeled some paint back and thrashed the bike around intentionally to keep an eye on the dent. Seeing that nothing happened (no cracks etc) I finally had a crack*
