No no sorry.. This isn't a current project. The photo was taken in the late 90s (possibly early 2000s). Notice the compulsory flames on the tt. I was just trying to flog those forks.

I dropped off my ESB to Super Ted earlier this week. He replaced my stays with wider ones to allow for up to 2.25" tyre clearance. I'll be ordering something fat after Christmas – maybe Halo Twin Rail 2.2 or Conti Race King 2.2 for full on winter mode. Anyway, yesterday I picked it up from Armourtex and built it straight up.
Fantastic.

I used to wear elbow and knee protection for a good reason, time to get some more.
Like this? Bought many years ago but never worn in anger. You can have the whole lot for £30

I'll be picking this up in Tokyo for my 2013 project.

It is coming with a new fork with a full uncut steerer too.

Just finished this, I'm quite pleased with it considering it cost me under £200!

that's quite a high gear for going to the supermarket though... :D

French track frame bought off here for track and (dry) road use.
Pretty much NOS, made of SLX.
First picture with some beater Condor wheels for road, and second with Record tubs for track (yeah, that front tub is flat).Currently debating whether those Record wheels work, or whether I should get some DA black ones instead. If I stick with the records, I'd like to get a C-Record or DA crankset to match the silver...
Also, yes, short stem - I appear to have sold the 100mm one I had that fit the Criteriums. Seems to work on the short spin I've just had on it though, doesn't feel too cramped. I prefer riding further over the back wheel anyway.
And yes, needs a bigger chainring. I have a 52-18 set up on another bike that I can swap over when Herne Hill reopens to give me track gearing by swapping out the cog.

haha, I'm going to be using it for time trialing, 97", so i will either go very fast or not at all.
Dglshrn that in the first pic looks really nice, not sure the wheels work in the second though, black DAs would be sexy

So my wipperman chain snapped as I attacked away today, was like riding a bucking bronko, but managed to hold it - somehow.
Atrocious, only 2 months old and well maintained.
Will keep clear from now on.Not sure what brand to move to. All the same really.
Edit: Emailed wiggle as i checked my account and it's less than 2 months old. Shit.

Which one? What was the failure mode? What were the conditions (chainring & sprocket size and position etc.) when it went?
-
• #70568
Failure mode? Don't understand
Wippermann Connex 10S8
Big ring, 14ish sprocket, accelerating from 25mph to 29mph putting down 1200w and it just went bang, about the opposite side to the quick link, 4 rotations in.Gutted.

What broke, and where?

Where it couples and the pin goes through, the side bent away and thus opened up.
No pic, forgot in my rage.Stolen from google. But there was no pin to be seen.

Yeah, Black does seem to work with the blue colourway better I think.
On the lookout for a set of 7600 (or similar) clinchers, if anyone has anything.

So just the common or garden failure we expect from flush riveted dérailleur chains. They all do that, it's one of the penalties you pay for light, cheap changeable gears. You could switch to YBN or KMC or Campag or Shimano and go through life without ever breaking another one, and you might mistakenly think changing chain brand had any effect on the matter, but really they're all about as good as one another. The only chain I've heard of in decades of cycling which actually had a systematic fault was the Shimano CN-6700, and that suffered from stress corrosion cracking which is a completely different mode and mechanism.

As I said, above.
'Not sure what brand to move to. All the same really'
It's just one of those things, you Bosch fridge brakes out of the blue, you'll look away from the Bosch brand.Which wipperman would you recommend then, one for more money?

No, generally one for less money, then you won't feel the need to eke it out.
If you're buying a batch, shopping in Europe seems best
