Pompetamine got a new coat of paint.
Just lookin for a black stem now. Head badge and decals are on the way.Not quite sure about black stem as the current one looks great, but awesome buildup mate. Hoods and side walls, and new colour all look really very nice, and I'm not a fan of that colour as a small accident with hair dye made my hair go that colour... not a good look, but the Pomp rocks it!

Just bought some schwalbe big apple tires and crud catchers for my mountain bike.
Haven't ridden it in over 6 months so thought I'd modify it into a winter bike for now,
Not sure what pressure to run them at though, have chucked 40 psi in there for now and will see how the first ride is and adjust accordingly.
Looking forward to thre ride home.

40psi sound about right, I usually have 20 in front and 30 on rear (75kg).

I've been polishing some 1985 swept back bars this weekend.
Came back a treat so fitted an ITM Eclypse stem to them and fitted them on a Mercier I have at work.

Cheers. Brake is an Avidd BB7 road. I've been pretty happy with it stock but I got a set of EBC pads to go in there soon. Word is they're a worthwhile upgrade.

I'm wondering if I should get a cable disc for my new bike, I played with some hydraulic disc's the other day, they felt disconnected for want of a better word, i felt like you couldn't really get enough feedback from the brake.
-

Cables feel very much like rim brakes imo. It may have just been set-up, but I thought discs had the best feedback of all brakes I've used.

As long you use the right lever, it'll work.
SRAM for example perform crap in modulation with disc brakes whether Cane Creek SR-5 work almost like normal brakes.
-
• #68718
the bike has risers so I'll be able to use the correct levers

In that case, go cheap Shimano hydraulic.
-
• #68720
I've got Shimano XT discs on other bike and they're brilliant, but wish I'd gone for the cheaper ones as they're just as good from what I've heard and read.

I do find cable discs feel much more like rim brakes. Personally, I prefer the feel of hydraulics but sounds like it might be just what you're after.

m595 hydraulics are pretty amazing and mineral oil based is nice.
-
• #68723
in what way? I find it very different to rim brakes, even when compared to my dad's ceramic rims brake with swissstop green, I still find my BB7/Cane Creek perform better.
-
• #68724
Oh yeah, they perform way better but still have that cable feel if that makes any sense.
-
• #68725
Not at all in performance. Of course discs perform better.
They feel like rim brakes, not in terms of power, but in terms of modulation and feedback through the lever.
What is those black images? some sort of upload error?
