I might just bite the bullet and do it... Went up to see Steve yesterday and had a chat about it and got a quote. I love the way my new Lee cooper lo-pro I've got rides, but want it in steel, with all these slopies and triangles! :) Bar-spinnable 700c too ideally.
It'll mean selling both my bike to fund this one oober-bike though. -

700c = fuck-off clearances and pedal strike issues
You can't have larger clearances AND pedal strike issues. The larger clearances are because the 700c is smaller, hence less pedal strike.
Edit - must learn difference between toe overlap and pedal strike :-)

Possible current project. Need to get the rust checked out by someone with more experience. Looks pretty bad, but...

A Merican with build-in rack? that's a rarity, didn't come with the original fork I gather?

remove brake ftw
...yeah in time, I ride with time atac so getting used to riding this with pedals n straps is first then will ditch the brake! Already had to change to smaller cages as the overlap was a bitch!

Rack is bolted on (with rusty bolts that strip when I try to loosen them).
Has forks (they seem fine).

It is. Lug hasn't separated, but I'd still like to see it replaced (if the frame can be rescued).

gold for a technical reason hey?
unless it did come in silver, then a massive fail on my part!
The gold is a titanium nitride coating, much much harder than steel, makes the chain last longer and run smoother.
They do come is silver, which are much cheaper as they have not got the ti-nitride coating.

... Current state of the Pearson track frame I bought about 3 months ago... been a very lazy with this build, not really sure where to go, shorter stem to come with nicer risers, also gonna get rid of those ourys. for some reason tempted green grips but fairly sure that will be a bad idea. Anyway...
(before anyone says anything, will get a proper photo when it it ready)

brake lever angle?
lovely frame though, if you're not really sure where to go, my 2p is low profile silver rims (open pro) laced to any silver hubs, black saddle, black grips, proper clips. love the frame, just the components look a bit out of place imo. sorry to be a bit Edish, only i was looking at frame as well when it was for sale.

http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd12/horatio7714/9-1.jpgIf the toptube dent turns out to be ok you'll be onto a winner. At any rate, Mercian will be able to swap that out, if you're willing to pay - and I hope you are. It's a lovely frame - there'll be some pitting where it's badly rusted, but once stripped and resprayed it'll look great.
Nervex 48 lugs too - so I date it to the 1950s - early model Mercian FTW. Not that I'm a Mercian geek mind - just that I have a 1955 one that looks just like it.
Most comfortable bike I've ever ridden...

i think you're right, the straps definitely have to go... from an older build, just like the black seat post. the lever is at that angle because it it on the flat of the riser. Got the frame for an absolute bargain by emailing the guy, it has font down the front blade of the forks too which i love.
will get round to sourcing parts for this one day, at the moment it's a bit of a beater with 700*32 tyres and deep v's, just enjoying riding it - took me a long time to find a frame that actually fits!
...having said that, i think the wheels look much more 'garish' in the photo than in real life.
hottness!!
