  • ^Agree. Quill stems are a right ball ache.

I'd put pink tape on the Condor - Make it a bit different, rather than standard slr, microtex and atac contacts. Stand out from the crowd I say.

  • That looks lovely. I agree about the bars though.

    What size?

Thanks, the seat tube is 64 c-t, top tube 60 c-c. Closest I think I'll come in a production frame to what should ideally be more like 65-57, hence short stem (100 mm) and looking for short-reach bars.

    This
    Pink microtex ftw)))))))

  • I think this is the cheapest you can get a new one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chris-King-1-inch-GripNut-Headset-headsets-sets-threaded-Grip-Nut-Head-Set-/350580077176?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51a0337278

    just realised 2nut/=gripnut

    hmmm

Aspire Velotech have a proper web shop as well as their ebay, they are nice people to do business with.

  • I''d like to use my former road bike as a more "daily" bike. Before switching everything to a new frame I'll use the (cracked) BIanchi frame. What tyre size do you think these clearance would allow? On the pics they are Continental Ultra Sport 23c.

  • 25's for sure, you might squeeze a 28, its hard to tell with out scale

  • 25's for sure, you might squeeze a 28, its hard to tell with out scale

Thanks for the help. What 25 or "smallish" 28 would you recommend for city use (somthing puncture-resistant, rain is not a problem) ?

Also, I've heard about "real-world" sizes being really variable for a given lable (say 28c). Is there any thread or link referencing real sizes for common tyres?

Maxxis Refuse, available in both sizes now.

  • 28c rando's seem to be more like a 26 or 27c

maybe try and get hold of some used 28c and fit them and see what the clearance is like then?

or just go with some 25c's...

  • Randos are narrow, tall (and heavy). Paselas are a similar shape.

    ^^ I didn't know Maxxis did the Refuse in 28mm. It's a no-brainer then.

  • Depends oh how puncture resistant you want really, my personal choice would be gatorskins, thought not gatorskin hardshells as they're a bit ott if your not skidding. They're heavy but tough, I've never had a punture using them. Also the 25's are pretty 25'y if you understand my meaning.

  • Sorry to cross post. Here is mine at present, something still doesn't look quite right to me, i think i am going to go back to black rims with a tb14 on the rear.

Let me know what you think.

  • I'd want the deeper rim on the back.

    Nice frame.

  • Ooh how you flatter.

What you think on the tape front?

Wasn't meant as too much flattery, though yours is nice that build looks fucking gash.

I'd say black tape, white finishing tape. Then draw a pink line on the white tape with a felt tip pen. Ladies love that sort of attention to detail.

  • Not much new with my Pinarello, but I did get a new stem and new bars, and then even a new pair of tyres. OK, this post is really just a readers wives, but I wanted to post some proper pictures of it!

    (Click to embiggen)

Sexy bike, sexy photos, 1st one especially.
But those bars, are they crit bars? Older levers maybe look ok/right shape, but sti's look alien on there. Guess its comfy though

  • Need to sort this shit out. New paint comin soon

I figured out how you can fix the dull paint job. Get hol dof some chrome of smokey chrome decals, will look reminiscent of an 80's bmx race bike then.

Look at Diamonback Harry Leary Turbo for an example.

New this year I believe. Scott (Black Rainbow Project) posted a link to a UK retailer with stock somewhere on here.

  • Thanks all for the tyre advices. I'll try to find a used 28c to check and then hopefully I'll find Re-Fuse tyres in 28c.

Another question: what do you think is better for a town-bike (as a theft-deterrent) : rattle can or cover the frame with stickers? Which one would be the least gash?

  • STlCKERS. so much nicer than rattle can. unless it's pink.

  • Rattlecan if a Cannondale gate

  • Rattlecan if a Cannondale gate

    epic

  • love that sumo, severe bike envy going on

  • ^Looks good, and perfectly set up for all-day riding comfort. Very nice.

Absolutely this! Any excuse to get some white or pink on a bike is a good one.

  • Thank you.
I've just set up a second bar/stem combo so I can swap in about five seconds between drops/hoods and risers.
