I'm happy to go second hand - would probably prefer to as I can't justify new at the mo.
£750ish go a reasonable distance then you reckon?
Also to reiterate: is steel a good or bad idea at this price/level?
You should get a 1-2 year old high quality cross bike for £750. CaadX's and Specialized Crux's regular go for less than that on eBay.
Steel is fine but somewhat out of date in cross. Most people race on aluminium.

^How's the track champ coming along?
Slowly slowly. Had to dump a bit of cash on safety checking my roadie because of the crash, so gotta wait till I get that back before cracking on.

Crash? What crash? Have you told me about this? I forget...

my tabbed washer has twisted in the headset and ruined the steerer thread, now the headset won't screw back on properly, anything i can do or do i need new forks?
EDIT: will never use a tabbed washer on nice 70s track forks again.

A small sharp screwdriver and perhaps a needle file might be enough to tease the thread back into shape and get rid of any burrs - I've managed this on a cross-threaded BB before

Is there any thread for asking how much your bike is worth? i have been searching and found nothing.
It's for my Dolan.

Yes, it's called ebay. Any opinion on the worth of anything is worth nothing until a contract for exchange is made.

Thanks. My brother ended up going for a crosscheck but I'm really not sure that's what I'm after. He wants to do some touring on his but I don't think I'm likely to want to.
Are there any good resources for reading up about these things. My knowledge of geared bikes is so pathetic I really feel like I should read up on it.
Is buying parts separately likely to save cash?

Looks awesome, but those bars look massively uncomfortable! Get some spotter bursss, or other modern ones, on there
-
• #67945
Thank you! They are not half bad, main point was reducing reach, and those (3T podium) cost almost nothing at planet x, so I thought I'd give them a try. The bonts have nice flat tops, but looong reach. I'm getting Soma HWY Ones as soon as SJS gets them in silver/I decide to just go for the black ones.
PS. "er farlig" translates to "is dangerous" -- I think that's an original sarcastic tag from the 80's when everything was dangerous and skateboarding illegal.

My thought exactly

Rebuilt the Condor, ride's a dream.
Full on velove.
Question.
Keep the black tape, change for white, or pink?
-
• #67948
answer: move le saddle on the rails a little back
seriously though:
imho white and pink stand out now just right, and when you will start colour-matching new bits it will just weaken the effect.
also, white contact point means all contact points have to go same way - do you really want to be sitting on a pink slr? -
• #67949
Response - noone likes a smart-arse... but yes saddle will be moved back.
I thought maybe just tape could work. Matching saddle would be too much...
Mine will be getting DA chainset next month.
