Damn... jealous
I've been to Norway in the middle of summer and it is beautiful, doing the coast will be one to remember.
You going on your own or with a group/back up team?

Oh yes..! Top job sir. I am liking your work...

Just finishing mine. Been a fun build and will hopefully serve me well in a couple adventures next year. Some parts are to be swapped out (stem, saddle..) Haven't done any riding yet but the frame feels solid.
Only downside is that it only takes 32mm tyres with fenders. Won't be doing any offroad riding anyways though.Lovely. Hope i can put together something as nice.

Can I get some hub advice? I'm trying to source a new rear hub for my pompetamine. What i'd really like is a disc hub, 36h (already have the rim and I want it strong) with the option to go fixed or have a freewheel.
There seems to be nothing available short of custom phil woods which is way too expensive.
My options seem to be,
cheap shimano deore hub with a surly fixer,
or a track hub with spacers and some sort of screw on disc adaptor.
Would this work? I can't seem to find any info about thread size
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/dt-swiss-arai-to-disc-brake-adapter-for-140-mm-oln-98-td-prod29105/?src=froogle
or get one of these from the states
http://www.bicycledesigner.com/bike-parts/disc-brake-conversion-kit-adapter.htmlHave I missed something? The surly fixed disc hub only comes in 32h.

Can I get some hub advice?
The old XT hubs are great bang-for-the-buck

^^ This any help? - http://www.hopetech.com/page.aspx?itemID=SPG242
I know someone else used one on their Pompetamine and it worked well, but dunno how you'd get disc and fixed...

Think the best option would probably be a Shimano XT rear hub, a Surly Fixxer (with sprocket and lockring), and a SS conversion kit on the free hub to cover all options.

phil wood kiss off s/s mtb hub?
you can use the thread for the freewheel or if you get the disc version you can use an ISO 6 bolt sprocket
-
• #67736
oh wait - ignore that, didn't realise you wanted a rear disc brake

Shimano XT rear hub, a Surly Fixxer (with sprocket and lockring), ~~and a SS conversion kit on the free hub ~~
I wouldn't want to swap back and forth between a Fixxer and the stock freehub, in my experience the slight mismatch between the splines (probably deliberate to eliminate backlash when using fixed) makes the conversion a one-time deal. So, Surly Fixxer and a screw-on single freewheel is the way to go if you want cheap.
If you don't mind losing the back brake when riding fixed, Hope Trials hub and a bolt on sprocket would be nice.
I don't think the Arai thread is 1.37", so an Arai-disc adaptor will only fit on hubs designed for Arai brakes, not onto a normal sprocket thread on a double sided hub.

phil wood kiss off s/s mtb hub?
He has already identified that there's a Kiss-Off version which does everything he wants, and he can't afford it.

Don's going for a re-paint and getting some Tubs just in time for winter riding. : /

Far better suggestions.
A screw on single freewheel and a sprocket would be a hell of a lot easier to interchange too.
Still trying to remember which forum member had a Pomp with a Hope trials hub, does make sense when fixed to run without disc, flip it and use a bolt on sprocket such as the Velosolo ones and lose some weight. -

Look no further than...me!
My Pompetamine has a Hope Trials hub, although I only use it as a freewheel. -

I'm going to a bike sale tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Success. Bagged a 1980's Schwinn Traveler, in good condition for it's age I guess. Pics to follow. I'll post as a project. Needs a good clean and new tyres. Then a bit of adjusting gears and brakes. After that i'll kit it out for touring. Cool.

The one I had in mind had a lovely bright green paint job, that recently turned to black, and sported a P2 fork. -

Whats the best way to prep carbon forks for respray?
I can nitromors the frame and give it light sand down, but dunno if I can just give the existing paint a scrubbing and paint over on the forks.

Now I just need the cash and time to do it. -

Yeah will hopefully be a cool experience. Haven't been that far up north before, thinking of departing from Narvik. Will probably be doing it alone.

And I'm hoping on doing a little light british touring next summer, also really digging the idea of doing it solo, but will be my first trip like that, so quite excited, but the coast of norway will be a great deal more epic!

anyone want a Campagnolo Record Bottom Bracket? Italian threaded, 102mm axle, so for Italian track bikes really.

One of what? A shopping basket?
Been wanting to cycle the coast of Norway for some time so i thought i'd take the time off and do it over the summer. Lusting for some dramatic scenery.
