  • The clue is in spotter's José Álvarez thread...

  • bars (some short-reach ones) for this to get the hoods real close, while still having a fair drop to the drops?
    S

    Nitto Noodles?

  • I have a feeling I could...

    he said fair drop though.

  • I bought this CAAD7 a while ago and have been slowly acquiring parts for a build, including a full SRAM Red groupset.

Now the only thing missing is a wheelset but I can't decide on one, so any recommendations for a pretty general (not ridiculously aero, not ridiculously light, not ridiculously expensive, etc.) set? I was initially thinking of some S60s but it was probably just for their æsthetics; I'm not sure I need such flashy wheels, and of course they're extremely costly.

i have a cannondale with some Sram S60. I like the wheels but i think that i prefer to see your bike with the Sram S30 sprint

  • Had some fun with the parts bin today:

Might finish it off next week, as I actually quite like it.

really like this, stick a canti on the front and it'd be swwweet. I even like the odd stem!

reminds me of this in a funny way...

Anyone tried the Soma Hwy one?

  • The look awfully like SpotterBars™.

    S'electric!

  • How much am I going to regret it if I decide to buy bright blue tyres because they are 15 each instead of 25 each for black?

The blue will match my bike, but I would usually only get black, and find coloured tyres kind of gross. Should I just stop caring too much about aesthetics anyway?

The colour is kind of lurid. Maybe it'll even look cool though? Thoughts?

When you say 'match' do you mean that your bike is blue and the tires are blue? Or that they would actually match? If it's blue on blue, don't do it, unless you're a big fan of "the clash'".

  • What would be an alright bottom bracket and chainset combination? the creaking from somewhere in the drive chain is killing me softly and makes me scared something is about to break horribly. Budget around £100 I guess...

    He'll have matching bbs too.
I like the Zenith/Andel units, well made and cheap.

My bike has a decent portion of it that appears to be very close to that blue. But it's hard to tell because of blue vs sky blue, new colourways v old ones, photo contrast etc. I've decided to go for grey in the hope they're a pretty dark grey. Even if the blues matched perfectly, I'm reaaally not a fan of bright coloured tyres, but I didn't realise the grey was nice and dark.

    yes.

  • Pluck out thine eyes, they both offend thee.

can you try swapping out your saddle/seatpost first?

I was convinced I had a creak in my crankset but was my saddle/seatpost as changing them has fixed it completely.

  • S'electric!

    Wow!

  • I may have sorted a new and very exciting (for me) project...
Only problem is my current frame still hasn't sold (although a couple of regulars are interested).

Came close to buying this too, but was just tooooo much. (Italian cycling federation Colnago)

  • Chrisbmx you've got some nice furniture!

  • Ha, thanks!

  • Just ordered some of these for the Cross Check.
    £169.99 for 175mm 52.38t.
