challenge actually. They look super nice - they were supposed to be for my S-Works, but I'm just going to order a second pair instead

That's the one.

Carbon post looks good on my Omnium. I found a guy selling last years FSA seatpost for £25. Think he's sold out now though.

Tifosi still make a 1" carbon forks with eyelets. It fits a 28c tyre too I think. I wouldn't buy used carbon forks from eBay and surprised anyone does.
I am sure buying new is a better guarantee and faster, but I got my carbon fork NOS, I agree I would be a little nervous buying used carbon.

Dare I ask how light it is in its track guise?

Also, talking of dodgy carbon, I noticed a mark on my fork the other day, which on closer inspection, looks worse than I thought :(
It's hard to tell how big the crack actually is, and I can't think what could have done it, but I think it's a write-off. The bike's been through a bit of a hard time lately, including riding in the back of my car along with the rest of my worldly possessions, and moving through two houses, so it must have taken a bump somewhere.
That said, I had a strange undiagnosed clunking problem a few weeks back, so it could even be from back then.
Anyway, cheap fork recommendations?

Sand and see...
Could just be a crackling in the laquer etc..
Definitely further investigation required. What the worst that can happen?
-
• #63761
^ Agreed, worth a look.
-
• #63762
How deep does it have to be to be of real concern?
-
• #63763
it's carbon, which should be enough to be of real concern.
-
• #63764
It is, I hate the stuff.
It doesn't look good. I have sanded off enough of the area so as to make it noticable:
And the cracks are still showing:
Fucking wank piece of shit.
So, a cheap and good alu fork with 1" steerer? Any recommendations?
-
• #63765
I would not recommended an alu fork.
Either steel, or carbon, but never alu.
-
• #63766
Why's that? Are they prone to fatigue as well?
-
• #63767
No, just darn uncomfortable on a road bike.
carbon is popular for the obvious reason that it dampened road vibration almost as well as steel fork but for less than half the weight.
-
• #63768
Carbon is scary though.
Can you, or anyone else, recommend a 1" threadless carbon fork with plenty of steerer?

tom just buy a bit of carbon and some epoxy and patch that fucker right back up
-
• #63771
or you could go and rest your face on a kerb whilst kerob stamps on the back of your head?
-
• #63772
the latter might be a little easier to do.
-
• #63774
Is that a propeller?
-
• #63775
Yes it is, war monument, a bomber crashed nearby the village I live in.
Also, are they Veloflex tyres?
They get me evrtim. I don't think they'd suit my bike, looks-wise, but I'm starting to care less and less.
