Mr. Borneo - I'm actually using the rim on this wheel to be built up with the XT hub and bolt on sprocket, its a Campagnolo Omega Strada Hardox rim and way to nice to waste!
Also am buying the one Miro_o has spare, now just gotta work out what front hub to use for that... -

^^ I had the same issue with an Atom hub, it was a 36H flip-flop on an MA2.
The threads on the hub looked fine but the DA lock-ring frequently went loose.
I concluded that it must be a french thread -

Im running a maillard vintage track hub on the rear with a no name but quite chunky lockring and its slipped a couple of times. I presumed it was because my lockring tool is pretty shit/ I was being a massive pussy, but is there any way to check french threading other than hub brand name?

Got round to taping my bars, yes I know you're not meant to tape the aero sections... but do I care...
Went inside to get my phone and the wind blew my bike over, tearing the tape a little... Fail!

just me or is the saddle pointing a bit to the right (left front) ?
-
• #62535
Yes Dom especially with the gel inserts on the extensions.
Aye Apollo, nose of the saddle points right, as is the recommended way to set up a saddle... (well, whichever way suits the rider)

And win, got a pair of Sidi's that fit good apart from the tip of my big toe on my right foot pressing against the inside of the toe box (right foot is bigger than left) thought I needed a bigger size (which would then be too roomy everywhere else) but just successfully heat moulded them by warming the shoe up with a hair dryer, putting on some thicker socks, and standing heel on a book while the lorica cooled down....

Interesting. Never thought about it much but looked it up and it makes sense

It's difficult, because of the very close dimensions mentioned above. You should be able to distinguish them with a good screw pitch guage, even over the 4 or 5 turns available it should be obvious whether a 1.00mm pitch guage fits precisely or not.

And it only needs to be a fraction of a mm out and so much of the thread is no longer in contact with the lockring, meaning no friction, meaning very messy things happen when you try an stop!
^ (When I've been drinking, I find it a good idea to simplify to utmost extent possible, thereby maybe retaining some of it when I wake up... it kinda works...)

I'm going to re-do the bar tape on a bike I have for sale (http://www.lfgss.com/thread87498.html)
What colour of bar tape do you think should go on this?
- The frame is blue;
- The lung lining is gold;
- The saddle has now been changed for a period correct Selle Italia Anatomic in dark brown suede with light yellow marking.
I'm thinking white.

^ I can't imagine anyone being actively put off by white, so if you're selling it that might be the safest option. Much like the decorating equivalent of neutral magnolia if you're selling the house, innit.

Loving this setup....
The new shoes and change in cleat position has made a massive difference too (old cleat bolts were rounded off...) Like that I've got the cleats mounted way back on the sidi's compared to the mavics, but I got less toeverlap...

everything he said ^^ ... but especially as it'll suit the frame colour and the black stem.
Otherwise black.

Thanks - will go for white!
Thanks Tester, good information to know for future battles with French hubs, also makes a lot of sense as I think I remember reading Atom hubs were French.
Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing what the existing lockring is and it seems a waste to buy a French one when I'm getting new rear wheels in less than two weeks!
I have now ordered some loctite threadlocker, which I will try with the rotafix method, and going for a ride and re-tightening the lockring, and hope that lasts me till I build the new wheels.
I love this forum, 4 good solutions in the space of 2-3hours of posting the problem, job done!
