  • Clincher yes,
But I'm sorry, Apolloxl has first dibs if I sell it (probably won't haha) he wanted it really badly ;d.

  • Gah... I'll have to make do with the current collection...

  • Haha you have enough hipsterwheel I believe.

  • It's an addiction...

    ... a burden I have to carry.

the craving for moar... moAR.... MOOAARRR!

  • If you ever want to unload some of your addiction pm me ;)

  • I count this ride of spotter's as a tall bike, a fucking sexy at that

Cheers, not quite on the same scale as jammies bikes though! I need to snap some more photos of this soon, I'llt ry and do it when i do my low pro. Also need to do a full stable shoot once my Raleigh is done.

Does anyone have an opinion on Shimano revoshift shifters?

I think they might be the solution to getting both brake & gear levers to fit on my nitto promenade bars. Currently I have rapid fires UPSIDE DOWN which is hardly practical but the only way they would fit.

I have always been weary of gripshifts, but that is because is probably because of cheap sram versions that come on BSO's. I used to work in a bike shop and kids used to destroy these shifters very quickly, not durable at all and also feel horrible to shift.

The cheap shimano ones are crap too, its a case of you get what you pay for. The more expensive sram ones are fine too. IIRC the difference is the more pricey ones have a gearing system instead of a direct cable link.

  • Looks bare buff-ting.

That means 'the thing in question looks very pleasing, aesthetically speaking'.

    yeh that paint job is

    uhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnggggggg

Not just that but it's also awkward to shift and brake at the same time.

I mounted my rapidfire shifter in a manner that's reachable on my Nitto bar exactly like your, will take a quick snap tomorrow to give you an idea of how to mount it.

alternately, bar end shifter mounted on thumbie is always a solution (expensive though, keep looking out for them in jumble sales, found an 8 speed one for £15).

  • My 4-coloured Pinarello

    Oohh - sexy frame!

    Great build!

  • £60 ;)

Rob, wrap the crank arm around in an old tube or two and tap it not too hard, but consistently with a hammer from inside. should do the trick.

  • Got the** Bosom**worth up and running.

It is a bit ratty and chipped up but I love it!

  • Cool!

  • Sick!

  • Got the** Bosom**worth up and running.

awesome bike, pretty much as usual, but come on, man, didn't you have another stem?!

  • Yeah got a few other ones but I still like the horrid ergo stem.

Might put a different stem and bullhorns on it at a later stage. A lot more fun like this though.

  • I think yours are my favourite bikes, is it yourself that has that black lo-pro as well or is that someone else down-under?

  • Oohh - sexy frame!

    Great build!

nothing to change on the groupset?

  • love the paint job on that bosomworth!

  • Epic Brakless ratio. legs of steel?

  • Hello everybody, I'm new to this community as I've only recently moved to London. I've ridden a lot of things that got wheels on em and I think it's about time I got my hands on my first fixed gear bike. What I'm thinking, after I did some extensive reading around the forum and the net, is that I'd like to get my hands dirty on this one and make a conversion myself. What I need is ideas about where I might find A LOT of used bikes around London so that I can pick what I think best for my project. Please do let me know if you got any ideas about where I might find such a place. I would buy any piece of junk that seems about right for my size and I see potential in it. I got about 200-300 quids to spend on the project and about a week's free time to complete it. I'll keep posting once I get started. :)

  • If I were you, I'd take longer than a week. Spread it out over a few weekends and buy things slowly, when you know exactly what you want and that it is the right thing. Don't rush it. The classifieds here are a pretty good place to start or just scour t'bay for a while. You're unlikely to find a better deal in any of London's famous London's famous shops.

  • starting work next Tuesday gotta have something in working order by then. Doesn't necessarily need to be finished, but it should be able to hit 30 miles a day or so. And when I say I got a full week I mean hands on 24/7 for a week :)

  • I think yours are my favourite bikes, is it yourself that has that black lo-pro as well or is that someone else down-under?

Is that the J.Foster? Not mine but my old Hed wheel set that I sold him.

Epic Brakless ratio. legs of steel?

Ha it does take a bit of work compared to my normal 49/17. It isn't an everyday bike though.

  • ^^ In that case I'd say either buy a complete bike off here, or just get anything roughly in the right size and then used that until you find what you're after.

Ebay is the place with the most bikes.

If you're set on a conversion then look for an older racer with horizontal dropouts in a 120-126/7mm rear spacing. But make sure it doesn't have cotter cranks.

If you need wheels a member called varno sells good cheap handbuit ones.

Remember to allocate money for a lock. There are threads on here called "the definitive list of [......]" there is one for locks. You should buy one tough d-lock like the kriptonite faggetaboutit NY and then a back up lock for the front. Also read the "how to lock your bike thread".

  • Also worth noting that unless you're bringing your own tools you'll have to budget for that (plus grease, GT85, WD40).

Lots of people will disagree with me, but for tools there is a cheap halfords bike tool kit. Some parts are shit and you'll have to replace, but most of them will be fine. The one which you should not use is the lockring tool - just throw it away - I bought a pedros trixie as its tough and has lots of other useful features. Everything else has held up. I'd also recommend a reall big spanner as they are infinitely useful.
