  • fucksticks, riding the Iro yesterday has confirmed that the seatpost is completely seized at 1- 1.5cm too high. Shit.

Any suggestions for a bodge? Adding shims under my cleat and bending saddle rails? Or any other madness?

    Get the seatpost out?

  • yes, thanks. I have tried that

  • Hi
This is my road machine, columbus Genius frame from the 90's with a modern transmission. I love it.

It used to look like this before I change the tyres, pedals, seatpost, saddle and brakes (saving 500 grams):

  • ^^ Wasn't being sarcastic

If it's a beater and the paint ain't a problem get someone to heat it up and wrench it out probably easier than trying to find a workaround...

  • you're probably right.

I wonder why we all rode our bike at hipster height before realising that it's too high?

    Either way, this be the topic you're look for;

  • I think I was using different saddle, pedals and shoes then Ed. It's not been ridden for 2 years.

  • maybe you've shrunk with age?

  • chain cha[i]nge.

I like it. I bet it rides well.

Something must have been very heavy to save 500g with those changes.
Aren't the new pedals just a different colour?

Yeah you're right, pedals are just an aesthetical change, but I forgot to mention the titanium skewers (40gms!), a dura ace cassette (old one was a 105) and super light air chambers. The seatpost (old vitus one) and the saddle were pretty heavy so even if it's just an approximation (I'm not a weight weenie I haven't got a precision balance :)), it has to be close to 500g!

  • replaced my cog to a EAI 17t (moar skidpatches)

also replaced rear tyre, the infamous Halo Berlin Courier...

  • Did they ever puncture?

  • nope never.
this be the 2nd I wore down to the inner black layer.

but they did wear out quickly.

  • Do you know how they compare to Rando's?

  • nope, got a used white rando on my beater, but the Dodici doesn't clear 28c on the back with my current setup

  • They are made of cheese. Randonneurs are much better tyres.

  • sun is out, might as well..

  • Lovely, not a fan of the cockpit, but it's damn nice nonetheless

  • Looks awesome. might wack on some sit and beg bars on my tarck bike

  • nothing serious. cant stop smiling when I ride it now! loads of fun

  • sunny day, couple of shots.

  • top slavery!
