So Just got my chinese carbon up and running after a long while :) It's nice, from what i've ridden but only problem is, it feels like it's slipping on the 4th and 5th ring on the cassette. All the other gears work perfectly, maybe cos i'm running DA cassette with 105 chain and mech? who knows
DA + 105 chain will make no difference to that sort of thing, just sounds like they're the sprockets you do most of your riding in, so they've worn out first.

Just picked up the front wheel. Bit worried about tubs, but I'll try and find a newer/blacker one tomorrow and see what fitting them is like...
just keep it inflated, and you will forget it is a tub.
also, because of the "forgiving" rim shape, you can still roll slowly home with punctured tub on. -

Itc, get a cog one size bigger, this is all.
Ed is right
Stick with the 46, or even go up a bit, and get a larger sprocket. The whole drivetrain will be smoother, consume less power and last longer if you use big rings and sprockets to achieve the desired ratio
Search for the rotafix method for installation.
Hugo is wrong
There is no need to rotafix, and it may even over-torque the sprocket causing thread damage to the hub.

Also added to the stables is this beast. Wheels are very temporary
ah glad someone on here bought that

anyone ever feel overwhelmed by CPs? - (my disorganised pottingshed stash as of sunday, (and I'm picking up another frame tomorrow)).
the rusty one on the left, is it a track frame and will you sell it?
-
• #60983
black rusty one on left looks like it has 1930's horizontal dropouts....
-
• #60984
1930s? How do you figure that? Looks similar to tons of bikes from the turn of the last century up to the 1990s department store bikes.

maybe datestamping was not a good idea lol, but I meant the flatter, longer type, looks older + weaker, like this:
as opposed to
or etc...

appolloxl is correct - the rusty black one is a '30's Claud - I've earmarked that for this years L'Eroica - you probably don't want that - it's a load of hassle - siezed steel seatpost with 300mm of insertion, and integrated clippie headset....
The rusty red one is a track frame - but that's in everyday use and not for sale! - it's the bob-rat
You're welcome to the coppi skidder, and as the claud progresses I think I'll probably have to let go of the shorter - I want to get a few good rides in on it first!
Trouble is I've just sold the house (which is significantly tidier than the shed) - so it'll all end up in storage if I'm not careful! -

Got a square driveside photie of Bob Rat?

(waits for "TIG stems on classic frames debate to kick off)
-
• #60991
I think rat bikes are immune to such trivial debates... Plenty long though ain't it!
-
• #60992
agreed on rat-bike ethics - you can see the debate on pg 47 of rats beaters & frankenbikes
I think the stem is 140mm (ITM Eclypse)
As a guiding principle in life I'd never ride anything shorter than 120mm, but it's quite a short top tube so I'm compensating (I've got quite long arms)

I did this to my Pre Cursa a couple of days ago.

^^ lovely!
The frame is 1cm smaller than my previous one, yet my seatpost has jumped up nearly 2 inches... hmm.

Whatok, that looks great... I was hoping Peter would drop the price a little then was going to snap that up, but you beat me to it. Was a bit gutted, but served me right! If it doesn't work out for you let me know, or, didn't you have another cadex? That might fit me (;
@ Merconium... Get the autosol out and a buffer wheel for your drill, those forks will come up beautifully.

Haha cheers! He probably would have, it was an impulse thing though. I don't mind paying a little bit of a premium if it means I get exactly what I want, and to deal with Peter.
After I've gotten a few miles in on this, the alu cadex will go on sale.. ;)
Aah too bad, had to know that. Was reading an article about Rik van Looy, remembert me of your name. But forgot about that. A shame, cause I was looking for a 54 frame for my girlfriend and thought I was lucky :P
