That was the old position, that stem was slammed. After watching some footage of myself (handy bloke counting everyone out and in) I decided to go with a 100mm flat stem and pushed the saddle forwards a bit. I've also just finished putting gears back on it.
Haven't signed up to it yet. Want to see how this years first TT goes. -

↑↑A friend of mine was on 60/15 yesterday, reckons it rolls much smoother than 52/13 plus the dinner plate scares the opposition. While that is extreme, I wouldn't go smaller than 14t on the sprocket, and I probably wouldn't use a chainring smaller than 48t for racing even for MG events.

I'll see what my mate Mr Engineer says,
I'm thinking a hack saw blade inside seat tube,
ideally some kind of slide hammer/panel puller to try to pull post up from inside
or challenge anneka -
• #60859
Hacksaw inside and carefully cut the seat post vertical, avoiding going into the frame.
However you should have left more seat tube poking out the top to crimp it with a mole grip to rip out out. That's going to be your problem now.

• #60860
tried hammering a screw driver between the seat tube and post?
-
• #60861
seat post was pony alloy, crushed and twisted in a vice when I tried to twist frame,
unusual , never had a seatpost crush before, the normally just twist a little if stuck -
• #60862
How did that happen?
-
• #60863
I will try the hammer/screw driver, as there is a little space
-
• #60864
seat post was stuck, some weird post with a thin external tube , and seat clamp part on top.
my usual approach is penetrating oil, coca cola, and upside down in the vice -
• #60865
I'm just going to ride to the sea and scream into the wind
I may feel better -

I would buy some carbide burrs for your dremel and mill it out from the inside.
Cant see any other way of doing it, and the fact that it looks like cheap aluminium means it shouldn't be too hard
-
• #60867
caustic soda?
-
• #60868
would do, but could damage paint work
-
• #60869
carbide burrs, I'll check it out

or challenge annekacould you not try putting a quill stem into the seatpost- expand it so its fixed in then with the quill stem as a lever twist it out?
-

could you not try putting a quill stem into the seatpost- expand it so its fixed in then with the quill stem as a lever twist it out?
good call,I'll try it, the stem should make a good lever to pull, kind of
like a horrific corkscrew
see, that's why I like this joint, a vast resource of ingenuity -
• #60874
I used coke before, bunged up the hole, turned it upside down and poured in through the BB shell. topped up every 8 hours or so and 3 days later it dropped out!

42x13 yo. Was tempted to go 42x12 but my lockring wouldn't fit.
