Lockring size isn't a problem, as long as someone makes a steel one somewhere!
Thanks for the tip. There's just too much choice.
Am I right in thinking Novatec makes hubs for pretty much everyone, then just rebrands them?
-
• #60753
Yeah the Novatecs are very commonly rebranded, but there are plenty of hub manufacturers making there own. It all comes down to budget. If you want a well built pair of wheels for a reasonable price it's worth checking these out https://www.lfgss.com/thread49556-27.html if you've got something else in mind or a bit more to spend then it's worth keeping an eye on classifieds...

My current project. Got bored, and was offered a deal on it, and wanted something with a little more... "personality" than the generic fixies about. Keeps me entertained even if i do get tendancies to build another before i finish this one.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'l guess my pic doesn't work then? It's a matt black frame, clean and simple.

Someone convince me why I shouldn't (or why I should) use Novatec hubs.
Why you should:
Millions of satisfied customersWhy you shouldn't:
Millions of other people have them -

I found the bearings in the Miche hubs significantly smoother than Novatecs, if you can live with the awkward lockring size.
they both use standard cartridge bearings so this is a non-issue really...
i'd advise against miche because their axles are made of soft cheese. -

also, i know you don't have to use it but the miche carrier system is shit.

whats wrong with it? got one sitting here on the floor waiting to be used. Have no experience with it but it looks smart to me

i can see it, it just doesn't look like it has a wildly different 'personality' from much else.

It wasn't in reference to other people's bikes, it was to my other bikes. I'm not here to follow or avoid trends.
This looks like another forum turned 4chan....
