I'm sure someone with real expertise 'ahem' will step in, but in my opinion, after about 105 level it's mostly about aesthetics.

105 level?
Yeah i currently run Goldtecs, but was looking at phials to possibly put on a Nagasawa, and wanted a step up -

^Phils

Get yourself a pair of the Goldtecs with ceramic bearings then and tell me whether I should bother buying them too.

• #57956
Pauls look slightly nicer, Pauls are slightly cheeper...mmm
No brainer.

Yeah i currently run Goldtecs, but was looking at phials to possibly put on a Nagasawa, and wanted a step upIf you got Goldtecs, why do you want to go for Phils? mainly for the look?

regarding the behind the curtain chinese company, do you reckon one would be able buy direct? or buy from china and import? this might be getting into murky waters, and then even if they do there would be import tax
TH Industries are Taiwanese, not Chinese, their factory is in Taichung (although like everybody else they might have subcontracted some of their cheap stuff to the Mainland). I doubt that any FSA kit falls off the back of any lorries in Taiwan, because TH do their own manufacturing and are probably keen to maintain the artificially inflated brand value of their FSA line.

Go to the nursery thread and read the first post - here http://www.lfgss.com/thread9350.html
Thanks for that. It all makes sense now. Never been to a forum before where I needed to read the FAQ before starting out. :)

yeah, they look sweet, plus the polish, and there reputable, the ceramic bearing Goldtec's sound nice but I kinda want to mix thing up a bit, ill look into them though
No brainer which way Malaysian?

He mean Paul being cheaper, frankly, the Goldtec, Phil and Paul (et all) are excellent hubs, all that left to do is to decided which one you'd rather spend money on.

Dura-Ace on a Nagasawa.

This does look gorgeous, I might be swayed...

Dura-Ace on a Nagasawa.
Was my first thought too, but then no outside/daily riding, an awful waste, the hubs would get messy anyway
-
• #57967
Look just get the one you liked the look of and ride it with your arse hangin' up in the air looking like you're using a pneumatic drill while looking like a ship figurehead.

I know people who've run DA hubs in all weathers for years, but I guess if you want fancy hubs for that then Royce with the optional all-weather seals would be a better bet.

He mean Paul being cheaper...
And better looking.
-
• #57971
Jobs a good'un.
-
• #57972
Paul and Phils both look very similar IMO, Royce hubs are just ludicrously expensive, as are white industry ones, sure their great though
-
• #57973
Dude, you brought a Tokyo Fixed Craft stem for your Langster, and you're saying Royce are ludicrously expensive.
-
• #57974
Sick burn.
-
• #57975
Hard to look at your hubs while riding :p
Anyway Mavic track hubs are the best looking and smoothest rolling imo.
Failing that, Royce.
Are Phils/Paul stuff the best out there? I've never ridden on them.
I've got 2 bikes..one with a set of mack hubs, the other with a set of profiles...both are amazingly smooth and quiet.
Just wondered how these compare..?
