  • From the photos I have come to the realisation that you are doing it wrong!

You should pump a tiny bit of air into the tube s it's barely inflated, fit it into the tyre, then start by putting the valve through the valve hole on the rim, then seat one side of bead first, then the other. Aim to work both hands round from the valve, to meet opposite the valve... The last few inches may be difficult but use your thumbs.

I would actually suggest going to your LBS or asking a friend for a masterclass though, I can see many a pinched tube on the horizon.

Removing and Installing a Bicycle Tire - YouTube

This is all good and well, but we haven't got to the inner tube stage yet.

  • He'll be going nowherefast without tubes.

  • Loose pedal spindle / bearings, chainring bolts, crank bolts, BB cups, BB bearings? Non-concentric chainring / cog? Loose hub bearings, pitted races, cracked axle / BB spindle? Loose hub nuts / cracked spacers / cracked stays? Seat post tight / loose / cracked?

It could be quite a few things.

cheers man, all seems ok, but il double check.

  • This is my DF3 as it is now the velodrome is shut for two weeks soon so thinking of having it refinished in matt black with black omniums black seat and these wheels for training.

Yes, LA84s are ridiculously long, I cut about 6" off mine. You also need to turn the levers over and use the aero cable routing

  • well they're not.

  • Have you ever installed a tyre? you really need to put one side in before the other, it seems you have done both at once

Yes, i have put countless tyres on before, i'm not stupid, i just put the rest of the tyre on for the picture

I have come across stiff tyres before but never had this problem...

  • bit of soap?

  • man, come on, as MDCC said, you need to cut down those bars, in this state they're totally endo-prone. also, slam that stem, will you? oh and why do all of your photos have black frame around them? is the bike dead or something?

  • With the exception of Kingcutter's track bike this page is... not the greatest.
