  • I think it needs some rim depth to go with the fat down tube; mine with 24mm deep rims looks a bit wrong, long term I'm thinking about something in the 40-45mm region. Groupset according to budget and prejudice - 2012 Red would be nice, but 2011 Force is ⅓ the price and 99% as good.

My thoughts exactly, 2011 Force is going fairly cheap now and probably try out the new PX deep section rims, or take my chances with some Chinese Crabon

  • You are welcome to check mine out if you'd like

  • That is super snazzy. Those Brooks vitesse saddles are funny old things, I have one on my hack bike.

  • Some may remember i asked about SPD pedals a few pages back

since that i have been told that mtb shoe's on a road bike are shit compared to road shoe's, which puts me in a spot of bother, basically, i will need to walk around a bit when i ride around on my road bike

some opinions or advice on either would be great, thanks :)

Get these. Best of two worlds imo.

  • Hawt

  • very nice gaston, very nice

  • Gaston, is that your Sirocco?

  • It looks very deLorean-esque from that angle. Which is nice.

  • Was holding off until the better weather to start using it, but I'm supposedly going for a ride over the high passes of the Lake District tomorrow (given the weather it's going to be Raphatastically Epic...or just stupid) and I'm still waiting on my Van Nicholas warranty frame, so this is the only road bike I have. Wanted to take it around the block to check the gears work well since it's the first time I've messed with Q-rings. Thought I'd take camera along.

  • that is one expensive bike. Nice too.

  • Fuck me the first bike a pair of American Classic wheels hasn't ruined.

  • yep

How did you find the Q-rings / Rotor Cranks ?

    Erp. Please don't bin it.

  • yep

Love it, the steel wheels look sweet on it.

I used to have a GTII that was mint and with 55k miles on the clock until a few years ago before some little scrote nicked it, I still miss it.

  • My Pinarello got a BB and cranks today. Just need to rear mech, brakes and saddle to arrive any day now then I can cable it up.

  • that Cervelo is awesome. Don't normally like them, but.... lust

Haven't done anywhere near enough miles yet to say. I don't really notice that they're not round, but other than that I can't really say, particularly since I'm trying them for the first time along with a new, much much stiffer frame, new wheels, different gearing and I'm back on a road bike after about 6 weeks of riding exclusively fixed. I figured they were worth a shot since in my researches I came across very few complaints and seemed like the best case scenario was they reduce fatigue and knee troubles allowing you to ride longer/harder and recover better, worst case they're no better than round.

    Erp. Please don't bin it.

Thinking about pulling out. The guys organising it are sending texts saying all is well and we're definitely on. Meanwhile the TV/Papers are saying it's getting colder than ever, will certainly be snow and ice and to not undertake unncessecary journeys...

  • Columbus EL/OS

  • It's nice, but if you need the saddle that far forward you should definitely get an in-line seat post, not only for aesthetic reasons but because clamping that far back will probably end in tears when the rails snap.

  • Thanks , but many of my bikes have this position...

  • Gaston, you're yellow build up there is very nice, but that lo-pro... straight to anti.
