  • what about this?

can't see anything, it's standing wrong side to the camera

  • oh no, not this mix-and-match again!
    =))

  • dibs rear wheel

  • ^ that wheel makes such an awesome noise.... a bit like a fighter jet... whoooooshhhhh

  • dibs rear wheel

Dibs front! It is a 650, right?

  • My TT project is nearly there, have a proper(rear) shifter on it's way, a newer screw on block and ahem, getting some 1'' bars from the forum..

Steve Goff built Columbus Air frame, with Argos 753 bladed fork. Cinelli Angel tt bars, Turbo saddle, Dura Ace 7402 chainset, DA 7700 derailleur, DA bar end shifters (may at some point revert to all 7402 group) Look arc pedals and blackspire bar end levers, (although I may swap these for 105 aero levers). Sugino 75 Tyranno disc and Corima fourspoke front.. Oh and Campagnolo Skeleton brakes.

Dunno why I just listed all that, you aren't blind.

That is stunning, reminds me of the English TT bike:

  • Miss matched tyres? Burn it!

  • Miss matched tyres? Burn it!

  • now with Concor and Airwings

    Are those airwings?

    Apparently.

  • Just bought these in the hope that the paint will polish off so that they can go on my brushed alloy frame set. Anyone no the best way to polish them?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360426986735?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1202

Nitromors and fine wire wool to get all the paint and crap off, then wetsand with 800g, 1200g and 1500g sandpaper (a drop of washing up liquid in the water helps - use a stiff sponge for a sanding block), criss-crossing your sanding until you can no longer see the sanding marks from the previous direction. Then polish with Autosol (again, in two directions), then apply a hard wax. It'll be a mirror finish.

Although if your frame is brushed, don't you want a brushed finish rather than polished? If so, you can achieve it with wire wool.

  • I plan on getting buried with that disc ;)

  • Miss matched tyres? Burn it!

If it makes you feel better, this one is nearly worn through and then it will either be getting a conti comp or an all black sprinter ;)

  • My most interesting project at the moment...

    Mock up pic

    52cm Dolan pre-cursa

  • That is stunning, reminds me of the English TT bike:

    Love this bike!

  • Was this locked up on Tottenham Court Rd. the other day?

  • Pic is taken in the Casino arcade I think, so it seems likely.

  • To do:
    ...

    • find some DA levers once I have the money.

I just bought some NOS D-A 7402 levers for the Feather. Probably paid over the odds but they are just perfect for it. The curse of having a 'best' bike: you end up spending a fortune if you change parts.

  • I got the bars on with the penny trick the other day.
Still think tt is a bit too long for me, but might be getting used to and I will tilt the bars a bit more.

    To do:

    • de-sticker rims.
    • find some DA levers once I have the money.
    • put on Fi'zik bartape.
    • try to give the crankset a finish that matches the seatpost (Scotchpad?).
    • might start looking for a 80mm Cinelli XA stem, as I don't really like the look of the Eclipse on this bike and like I said, 90mm still feels a bit too long.. (anyone?)
    • Gum side-walled tires - opinions?

I think the stem looks good, I would tilt the bars back a bit and move the levers round a bit, see if that is more comfortable. I know some say aesthetically bars in line with TT is the way, but I'd rather have comfort personally.

  • Just making a start on converting my 80's Record Sprint to SS...

    The finished article!

  • Hmn. My forks appear to be out of alignment. Oh well, I was considering replacing them anyway. That's decided it! I'm also slight suspicious that the seat clamp area is slightly out of shape. It seems I don't have a seatpost to fit right now...

  • Was this locked up on Tottenham Court Rd. the other day?

Yeah, and pic was indeed my home away from home Casino.

  • Sorry I meant to say, remember to give Les a wipe down with oil (wd40 or gt85) every couple of weeks or so to keep the oxidisation at bay.....

  • Yeah I went and got some today (wd40), I've also been thinking about linseed oil which I remember someone describing in either this or the rat bike thread.

  • Yeah I meant to get some linseed oil, but couldn't remember the name, and then decided to sell. I did give him a pretty thorough coat of GT85 before passing him on, but definitely needs doing on a regular basis.
