So I'm starting to feel the desire for hoods on my fixed gear. Also the engineer in me wants two working brake hoods. Also the aesthetic in me doesn't want a rear brake as there are no cable guides even though the frame is drilled.
So....
what are the options for two levers operating the front brake? I know of the "problem solver" one but it's a bit pricey. I've heard that the method of using a y-cable thing from a bmx giro is a little dodgy. I've seen another little gizmo that's like a bearbones version of the "problem solver" but I can't remember the name and I don't seem to have the google skills. Help please!

why not just get sprung levers, and remember which side is connected?
-
• #55304
Because that would be missing out on the opportunity to have a elegant engineering solution. Having two working levers is purely for my own ego.

Have you seen those bells that are operated by hand lever?
You pull the lever and it pulls the bell against the tyre to ring it, similar in fashion to a dynamo.
That could be a use for your "dummy" brake lever.

That is actually a nice idea :) but there isn't a dynamo clamp on a road fork :(

Here we go, but with less ugly preferably:

Currently with the same dilemma. Fitted road bars on the bike and ordered the sram s900 levers. just cant justify a splitter.

Dorky bell!

You don't need one. IMHO of course...
You'll have a lever that doesn't do anything. Suck it up! Not literally!

dorky bell it is

not really a current project but didn't know where to put it but it is quite funny
POLICE OFFICER LOSES IT .... "I,M ARRESTING YOU" .... FUNNY - YouTube

I think this is pretty neat

Couldn't agree more, if he has actually run a red light and knows it why not be graceful about it? His attitude doesn't really help the rest of us law abiding cyclists

5600 is 105. You probably meant 6500, which was the last 9-speed Ultegra group.
I was thinking 6600 (below), but 6500 would be closer in era probably.

I have something I got when I lost the use of one hand, so both brakes were operated from one lever. I think it will work the other way roan easily enough. If I recall it was marketed as "the pervert"
It wasn't elegant though, and neither is the problem solver, which does the same job. -

You can seriously save a lot of effort and bed wetting by just fitting a rear brake.
If you ride long miles in hills and on bad surfaces this is the best setup anyway. If not, then it's no worse than any of the others.
Does it make your bike look bad.?.?.?.. It just looks like a grown up's bike IMO (flicks hair then flounces).

no denying that the frame is nice
I'll never be able to match the blue decals, plus even if i could, it would probably go darker and dull after a while.
Probably going to go for black, maybe I can match the blue with cables?
Does anyone know where i can get an offending rivnut/nutsert removed/replaced? My local bike shop knew less than I did..
