Indeed 23c tyres fitted and paint has gone from back of seat tube already. I'll have a rummage fro some 20c'ish tyres but don't think I have any at the moment.
Do you reckon it's a tt set up with the short wheelbase and webbed lugs?

This one says it has 25c tyres yet the clearence seems larger: http://www.lfgss.com/thread59907.html although the dropouts are not cutout like mine.

Would putting wider rims be a solution?

Criterium frames used to be built like that too

Noooooo, please don't send it to him.

Tel, if you're splitting the wheels there's someone in AQA been after a pair of silver campag wheels, might be worth contacting them....

I have a couple of other wheels so will try later. Thanks.

Top tube is 56cm if it was tt set up I would expect it to be shorter. So Crit bike would make sense.

If he wants it then I will. Good Karma from him and I guess bad from you. Apologies it's just the kinda guy I am...

Wheels are ok so will be the last part to be changed (probably). What is AQA anyway?

I think I'm going to be able to defrost my road bike project which got shelved a bit back due to funds.
Managed to pick up this 105 5600 series group
Paid £165 for it and I know so little about road bikes I've no idea if that was a good deal or not, but it's roughly the amount I was prepared to pay for a group so I hope it's ok.
Then will come the fun of setting it up which I've never done before but I've downloaded the manuals and I'm sure I'll at least have fun trying

£165 for an unused complete groupset? Nice.
-
• #54665
good deal.
I tend to leave the setting up to other more capable types (:
-
• #54666
It's used, but not too much I don't think
I'm going to try the setup, then probably get people who know what they're doing to finish it off if I get stuck.... Just have to make sure I stop before I do any damage!

Easiest bit to get wrong - tensioning the cranks on the BB. Easy to overtighten then the BB wears out quickly.

Personally I'd mount everything then let someone else set it up, but that's just me, I like my gears to work perfect and I'm willing to pay someone else for that privelage.... good luck!

Great chat, thanks. I have a torque wrench I'll be using.

Setting up indexing is not rocket science. Just download the Shimano instructions (e.g. https://www.google.com/search?q=SI+ST-5600+pdf ) and follow them to the letter

No bad karma ... I'd just have to look at it every day ;)

BiltemaWheels?
Needs both 700x20s and some helicopter tape on the back of the seat tube, otherwise the paint will be through in a week.
