  • they will suit it well

  • Ha, I was going to offer you the same, but with carbon steerer. They do look pretty mean.

1" carbon with eyelets are even rarer than non-eyelet forks. So you should be ok securing a swap.

  • you reckon? I put up an offer of trade ad but no responses, to be fair though, who checks the trades section...

  • Malaysian - That fort is looking hot, it looks like its bloody quick too. I've always thought that should be the right angle for those bars anyway... imho.

  • Maybe there aren't that many people that want mudguards on their carbon.

Agree on the bar angle. Altough it looks a little pengy must be a much more natural angle re your wrists.

  • cheers AngelD.

Yeah I've had alot of issues with my wrists this year, so comfort is more important that looking rad. I've even got fizik gels under the tape (:

  • Paul, how much steerer do your forks have?

Tifosi do 1" with eyelets don't they?

  • Don't think so? I know you can buy kinetic ones with eyelets.

I'm around the 240 steerer mark IIRC.

  • Just been doing some shoddy potatochopping, tempted to remove the decals from the fort.

    forts?

  • My 2p, without the decals it looks just like a BBF.

  • *gbbf

  • but good point, well presented.

  • To be honest the bar angle look perfectly fine, it's not at a crazy angle, just slightly so.

Think I finally tweaked my low pro position now, bar was too high originally, going to take it to RP again to see how it handle.

  • looking good ed, liking the silver tape, my wrists wouldn't be liking the angle though, but the nittos have more room on the upswept section than the airwings it seems.

  • Bob Lane needs a flite though me thinks.

  • Just received the last bits for my next bike. A pair of Mavic Open Pro CD's, a bunch of DT Comps and 2 KMC DX-10S's. Got a Canyon Ultimate AL frameset a week ago and had an Ultegra 6600 groupset in the house. Just need to decide on a seatpost now. Will probably go for a Syntace alu to match the stem...

Nice one Joe. On reflection, it may have been Harvey bitching about those that made me disregard them. Must remember not to listen to him ;)

The airwing felt pretty long, but even so I managed to cloned the position from my roadie onto the low pro a bit, only that the handlebar is a tad lower than the roadie as I set the handlebar to a tourer height.

  • What bars on the Fort? (Looks better with logo)

  • better with logos! angle doesn't look to crazy

  • not crazy at all, in fact it look perfectly normal to have it at that angle as well, look very 80's too, e.g. this;

It appear that the modern TT rigs have bar that tend to be horizontal.

Because you only spend a tiny proportion of the race holding the "starting handles", so comfort is irrelevant, but they are hanging out in the breeze the whole time so putting them horizontal minimises frontal area and therefore aerodynamic drag.

but if you placed them facing upwards wouldn't they produce lift, making the bike lighter and cancel out any negatives of aero drag?

  • The tasty Fort would benefit from a 0 degree stem perhaps.
