photo 1.JPG by monomaniac(tom), on Flickrhope the weather holds out for a few hours tomorrow so i can take her for a proper spin
Have you resolved the gear fouling issue yet - and did you get out for a decent spin?
I love this frame, and the build, but when I look where the saddle ends up in relation to the pedals, I can't help thinking it looks waaayy too far back. My old beater suffers from this syndrome as it is an MTB with a very long seatpost, and it makes for a comfy ride but compromised climbing and acceleration, and discomfort on anything beyond 10 mile rides.
So how does yours feel?
PS sorry if you've already discussed this to death!

I thought the same but only just noticed the seat tube doesn't join the down tube at the BB - so maybe an optical illusion? It's a cool looking bike, would love to know a bit more about the frame

I think I've finally got my bike about how I want it. Its about bloody time, I only started the damn thing at the start of September!
But its feeling good for the most part now. A change to a Raceface carbon flat bar, another 50mm of stretch in a new 100mm Thomson X4 stem, nicer grips, my old M545 SPDs and a 42t chainring that allowed an almost perfect chain tension meaning I could get rid of the shitty chain tensioner.
The whole thing feels lighter and tighter. Just waiting on proper rim tape and will try going tubeless to lose another 200g per wheel.
And then I might get a carbon fork... maybe a frame in the spring...
The last pic is my good luck gremlin mech stuck on top of down tube, he makes me happy! :D

2 brakes!

2 brakes!
Yeah, although the guy who fitted them for me (never ridden proper discs before and never bled down hydraulics) seems to have spilled brake fluid on the rear pads, so I need to replace em at some point. Ti's nice to have a steel frame again too.

I know I posted this a couple of weeks ago, got the bars just need to replace my invincible saddle and get some pedals, tape the bars! Should be done this weekend! -

Interesting, that head tube is way short! What size is the frame?
Nice setup for the brake, keeps clearances tight and allows for the caliper.
Look forward to seeing it fully built up. Should be a tidy bike.

Is a 50cm with sloping tube, so yeah head tube is tiny.700c front and rear so there no space to drill the forks as the crown is very small!

Winter Project Number 2 is up and running. Pinarello Montello from early 1990s. Decals are still intact which is amazing for a Pinarello of this age. Main things to get C Record Chainset, Seatpost, Brake Levers, Vintage 36h Rims in Silver. Not sure what saddle and bar tape colour combo I should use though...I'm thinking white Regal or Rolls with white Brooks bar tape.

Might be the new year before this gets built - shifting the Ultegra SL group onto it from my Cayo road bike. Sorry, Campagnolo fans.
Have found the matching Italian threaded Ultegra BB for £15. A carbon 27.2 seatpost would be nice but might have to wait.

Nice Regal! Did you check the seatpost size? some of them are 28mm...

nice one Regal, I had an argument with myself in my mind wether to buy it.

I picked up this Commencal Combi on ebay today. Going to build a budget SS mountain bike.
I might go fully rigid to save money and faff with maintenance.
Any advice?

I've just started converting my mtb to ss. I forgot to buy a chain tensioner though and don't have the right tool to get the cassette off so it will have to wait.

My advice would be to buy a chain tensioner and the right tool to get the cassette off

Those are the only two things I do have.

But that Dolan could be nice, turn the stem around and lower the seatpost. Frame is probably too small for you?
Turned the stem - thanks for the Heads-Up :-)

I hadn't yet, I was going on Pistoffski's ad, but it seems he has the original post so it looks like I'm sorted on that front either way.

Received the low pro.
Saddle to bar drop is exactly like my Lotus, so it's perfectly comfortable, nearly all the part is from the part bin (yes, the look stem, Nitto bar and ti spoon), I will put better wheels soon and changed the saddle for a black one, the Nitto bar will be taped up to hide the green;
12-23t SRAM 8 speed cassette, Tiagra derailleur, 52/42t biopace chainring (oval), a good TT gearing I reckon.

^very nice. Are you going to race it?
yeah yeah, unreflectored and unstickered it and all just after that shot ...
Equipment is a bit shit on that bike (Sora shifters, Tektro brakes etc), but for everyday use it's gonna be OK.
it's surprisingly cold atm, just about 20 degrees and cloudy during daytime. Starting work tomorrow and moving into our town house thurs, so then I'll report more.
