  • Clinical. Sort of place you leave with a leg less than when you arrived.

  • how many mm's of crabon?

  • Clinical. Sort of place you leave with a leg less than when you arrived.

    Thats my kinda party.

  • ^^60, grabbed from the classifieds a few weeks back.

  • I'm going to have a track bike built up that will look great in your collection in a few weeks Tom ;)

  • 4 wheels and only 60mm?! surely moar?

  • oh, total. I think 808s are 88mm? so all in, 296? Possibly.

  • ^^^yay! mine's got some silly new bars which please me but look hideous. no silly wheels though. yet...

  • Dura Ace on a cross bike, ker-ching!

Looks like a lot of fun, do you plan to race on it?

i might do a few cross races after Christmas just to get into shape for the road season i mainly bought the bike so i can get out when it snows instead of being stuck on the turbo. I have been told they made 30 853 cross frames at the Raleigh factory in Nottingham so i presume they are quite rare.

I might sell my 88mm carbon powertap setup soon. The powertap hub is great but not something I'll use often...might build up another 88mm rim on a plain and lighter hub.

You can have first dibs on the powertap wheel if you like Tom. I'd want what I paid...

  • I'm not the only one that hates that 6pt's hack bike is nicer than my best road bike will ever be right?

  • I love it! Bikes are meant for riding. If you can afford it, go for it!

Says the man who just settled the repair bill resulting from commuting on a decent carbon track frame for a year :(

  • ^^it's obviously not really a hack bike, but ceased being the 'nice bike' when the Look knocked it down a rank. Which is a good thing, because now it's not precious I'm finally getting my money's worth out of it riding it all the time. It'll be forced mercilessly through the winter filth and then treated for its loyal service come spring.

  • I've finally got my old carbon Dolan back from the doctors and it is ready to be built up again.

I've got stem and bars sorted (both Deda carbon) along with a pair of wheels (88mm Powertap rear and front Hed 3).

I just can't decide what cranks to put on. I've never really riden anything nicer than Sugino RD2 and have never had any complaints before. I'm tempted to buy some SRAM omnium but my brain keeps telling me that I might as well put some black RD2s back on.

Any suggestions? I'm not an experienced enough cyclist to notice crank flex within reason. I can tell the flex difference between a pair of Lasco or Drivelines and my RD2s but that is about it.

  • BLB powdercoated in green?

  • I was thinking more along the lines of a well known pantone: Langster Turd.

what saddle is that, on your "worse" bike? or are they both the same? cant really see as the wall is white, but like the lines of it..

  • black 75's? omniums are a good idea as well.

What are those frames like, and what happened to it?

If you have the RD2's, I'd just put them on, and upgrade later. If you don't then just get the sram's.

I thought about 75s but I think the more modern styling of the Omnium will suit the build more.

I guess the question is, £80 for a pair of RD2 or £180 for some Omniums? Will I notice the difference now or perhaps a year down the road when I have more track under my belt? Tough call. I'm thinking I may as well go ahead with some Omnium...this is a bike I want to build up well and keep for as long as the frame lives.

  • Stonehenge - is your bike going to be used for track riding?

Yes mate. That is the intention.

I learned my lesson about commuting on it. After a year of skidding it about I had to have the track ends rebonded back into the stays :/

    Sorry Hugo, missed your post.

Its a Carbon Dolan Pista...not made any more although the Seta is closely related. It was alledgedly designed for track TTing and longer races rather than sprints. I understand that it was built to measure for a pro to be used in some capacity during the 2008 track champs but ended up in Varno's possession for a few seasons.

In terms of how it rides, its amazing. Stiff as anything. It fees like it is full of helium it is so light.

Both Specialized Toupes. LOOK has a Ti143, Giant a standard 143 with some weight reduction mods (scraped half of it off when I last smashed myself into some tarmac).

    What Dolan model that be?
