  • Yep, that actually work!
Cheers for the tips too - sounds perfect. As I said, the idea is to clean it up and maintain it without doing a full-on museum piece.

I imagine restoring it to museum piece standard would cost a fortune (NOS parts etc.)

    Elbow grease FTW!

  • hmmm...the main problem is due to the layed back seattube, i would need a flagpole for a seatpost...i'm 6'3"

  • max why do you have a bbq strapped to the front of your bike?

    haha

  • its just a very old track/path frame, with relaxed geometry

What do you think about this one? It is drilled for brakes. The seller said it is a 70s track bike, but I'm guessing it's older...

looks quite tight and nice and lovely. I'd go for it Fresh..

  • Woo hoo! Finally! Skinny tyres for the Mercian... I'll be out on her tomorrow! :)

  • Teens - You Cranial Mushing tomorrow?

cottered cranks, i'd say 50's, maybe early 60's or late 40's. need a bigger photo and if it has grease nipples in headtube or BB shell.

  • 'Fraid not, won't be too far from you tho'... Goin' Tate Modern wiv da missus, innit? Quite fancied it this month but totally forgot about it then made plans... Boo! :[

  • Furry muff.

I was thinking 50s. 27" wheels. Although they almost look too big, or not put the rear in correctly.

It does have the nipples. I'd never seen them before.

  • looks very period, my guess, late 40's or early 50's. 100% it's a path frame. not a daily bike, more weekend cruiser these days.

  • Probably heavy and rubbish with 700c wheels?

  • they can be light frames. but silly to split a nice complete vintage frame, with all period bits. if you buy it restore it and enjoy, don't ruin it with 700's etc

  • You're right.

  • Phew, pretty much finished I reckon.

  • you're not suppose to put that in Current Project, it suppose to be in Bike Porn!

  • Interesting Dave, WTF is it?

    Very nice btw :-)

  • Thanks very much chaps, I don't really know as I have had conflicting info. It's Columbus SLX with Gipiemme ends and is mostly spearpoint lugged except the seatstays are fillet brazed into the seat clamp. I was pretty stoked when I got it.

  • methink adding a Concor Supercorsa saddle would complete the package nicely

    (in black obviously).

  • I've been eyeing those covetously for a while I admit, but I've been a turbo man for a long time now and it took me ages to find the slim version. Lovely looking saddles though the supercorsa, that is certain.

  • I dig the Turbo.

    nice looking bike good job
    i like the forks

  • ^what bars are they?

  • Just some new tyres, same old Mercian... I love her so much but I've neglected her lately... Just had her out for a little spin and she feels (as well as looks) lovely... See you bitches for a roll at lunchtime tomorrow! :)
