not a football fan, we just do lots of work for them- hundreds of arsenal bits all over the office!
Your not the medical staff are you? spending too much time building sweet bikes rather than sorting the lengthy injury list out..

• #52103
Sorry dude, I'm not sure I know what you mean. What part of the dropout is 1.4cm?
None, the bolt on the original axel would be 14mm, whereas the ones on your halo wheels are 15mm track nuts. So the axel of your wheels are too big for your frame in a nutshell.

Aaaaaaaah. So, can these 14mm ones still be acquired? Would they fit? Shall I just get the 2x4 out and do a bit of cold setting on the frame? Fuck knows.

Are they 'clock end' clocks on the wall there? (Yes, I'm a gooner as well.)

That offset seat tube is excellent. That whole bike is excellent.
Excellent.

I think he means that the axle diameter is 9mm instead of 10mm (old hubs). iirc modern road hub front axles are 9mm and rear is 10mm. Those Halo hubs don't use standard axles so a replacement isn't an option.
Personally, I'd mark the dropout with some masking tape and file it to 10mm, it then means that you can put any wheel in the rear. Also those hubs are 120mm width so it looks like your dropouts are set to the correct width already

Well it's the width of the drop out/hub that's the problem, not the axle diameter. The axle diameter is ok... Bike builds are never straightforward, are they?

Is it too much for you to be able to pull the dropouts apart by hand? Did you post up the measurement of the dropouts or am I imagining things?

tilover, amazing, did you base the design on the mkm frame??

so spent a few hours at the LBS... faced the bb and installed the headset, took her for a quick spin and it feels great! very short but the set back post and long stem make it feel fine generally - hitting bumps is a little scary but once i get the 3 speed fixed hub in i think she will be ridden regularly for any rides under 30 miles or so. will tape up the bars tomorrow and build up the new wheel over the next week or so. chuffed.

photo 1.JPG by monomaniac(tom)for those who havn't read the previous posts it's a 1979 58cm MKM ultimate TT frameset built just a mile or so from where i live, fillet brazed, stripped and clearcoated, to be used as my general short ride fast fixed gear winter bike. ti erikson post, sram cranks and brakes, ceramic open pros, grammo stem with bontrager compact drops, currently goldtec wheels, soon to be a sturmey archer s3x on the rear and a 55t chainring to get my right ratios once it's 3 speed

Here is my refurbished Roberts frame (with new Pista forks) - Shimano 600 polished seatpost, Romin Saddle, Token bars and stem, Record headset, BB, crankset, low flange hubs. Ambrosia Nemesis rims, DT Swiss Revolution spokes and Vittoria Corsa Evo SC tubs.
Colour seems hard to photograph and get accurate as it is a metallic finish - picture of headtube badge is most accurate idea of colour.
I think it rides extremely well!

holy shit mike that frame is nice, love how chunky those seatstays look...
not sure about the stem choice and bar angle though. -

mmm... oversized goodness.

• #52121
That is very good, didn't know that CR had stainless badges.
Front stem/handlebar looks a little too... for me. -
• #52122
For looks, you would say a quill stem.
It's always hard to marry classic track bike looks but with the modern threadless, especially when going for silver. Beaut of a frame and real nice wheel build.
-
• #52123
The only thing classic thing about it is the lugs, fork and low profile rims.

It works better if you seek out a 1" steel or Ti ahead stem, the bulk of a 1⅛" Al stem is the problem.
