Great response!
I built this bike as a bike of a joke to get round town on and not worry about it getting stolen (who the fuck would want to steal this!!?) or wrecked (the carbon beam does make some nasty sounds and I fear it is going to snap of and smack me in the face).
It also cost less than 80pounds...

That is fucking sweet. Look forward to seeing it thrashed (drunkenly wobbled) arround the streets of Auckland.

I'm not sure if the hand is aimed at me?
I have serious envy regarding that spinergy, would've been ace for Les the low budget lo pro...
Looks a bit fast for a pub bike. as if it cost so little!

i'd have gone for thumb shifters personally but other wise it looks good fun

I think it was aimed at the beautiful bike or maybe he is reading the new Sasha Grey book?
I got the bike on a local auction site and just swapped out the drops for flat bars and some new levers. The Spinergys were given to me by a mate who was leaving the country and getting ride of his bike stuff.
Yeah I wanted thumb shifters and I think I put some on later.
Hopefully some Sram Force hand me down brakes too!

For those that are unaware the fine city of Auckland receives a slight thermal effect from the abundance of shit hot tark beik parts that resides just beneath it and in local trackstar's bedrooms.
Rangitoto is highly active due to a buildup of Yamiguchi Steel and Kalavinka Carbon. Campag NJS often seeps into the harbour waters causing large ejections of steam.

So this has been a long long project - started off as a whole bike that I bought off ebay for next to nothing, the paint was fucked, the forks were bent and everything else has been replaced too.
It took me 6 months to find another set of Merckx forks, and then had to have the whole thing stripped and resprayed by Mario VAz (who did a beautiful job), and have slowly built it back up again.
The group is 7 speed, but using bastardised Ultegra parts (except for sti's - which are 7 speed something) - which has given it beautifully crisp shifting (almost better than my 10 spd record).
Seatpost; Dura Ace,
H/set: campag chorus
Bars and stem: cinelli criterium
Wheels: Shimano 600 hubs, Campag Omega rims
Saddle: Fizik Arione
I came very close to selling this recently due to cash crisis, so glad I didn't now. Excuse the bartape being done the wrong way - not sure how that happened, done in a slightly stoned hurry last week!

nacnud, that is awesome

That Merckx is seriously lush, the rear brake cable look a tad short though.

I know. I've got a Thomson I was going to put on but saw this on ebay a couple days ago and just had to have it. It's even period correct for the bike.

Thomson what?
only 15-20 minutes.. quite diluted with the water...
does anyone know if a tool like this http://bmxtreme.co.uk/Bike_Builder is available for road bikes ?
