  • Three more. WEIGHT BENCH, BITCH!
I'll start calling it a weight bench if it makes you feel better.

  • I'll start calling it a weight bench if it makes you feel better.

I'll start calling it a paunch if it makes you feel better.

  • Ha, it's a beer belly in primative stages. Time to stop drinking again me thinks.

  • ok SNS & O

mikes pretty much been round ours the whole weekend. He fucking stinks.

and right now hes insisting on watching highlander.

  • Quick cut his head off then run away.

  • hah, my project with the scrapyard frame had to wait cause i need to fix my commuter properly, so ive put it together with what i had to ride it while i fix the other one. Didnt want to put drops, but these bars are wayyy wide, should i cut them? Great for cruising though. And i know i about the saddle...didnt have anything better atm

its currently fixed at 46 to 18

  • Fixed with a rear brake only?

  • Fixed with a rear brake only?

it's still safe, safer than brakeless really, as it's pretty much the same levels as those coaster brake bike that only have one rear brake in the hubs.

  • believe me, at that gear ratio im not going fast anyway, plus it would have been such a shame to leave those braze ons unused...

and looks quite cool actually without the brake at the front
anyone wanna donate an old brooks? any condition at all will do

  • If I were you eddie, I'd carry on going through jumble sales and all that shit, and maybe even try and buy another bike (lady town bike, men cruiser, etc.) and mix the part up to build up the raleigh.

i will dont worry, im just not pissing money at the moment, i need to fix my other bike quite urgently, so this one is a commuter for a while

  • eddie thats cool.....

its so satisfying to jumble up a bike for nothing....

i used to do this with BMX's as a kid...
a real adventure cos u don't know how the bike's gonna look or ride, cos all your doing (i was anyway) is salvage old parts for free from wherever possible with the sole intention to have a bike to ride.

if it rode i was happy :) good ol days yessuri !

  • Finished my pennine sort of.
Need to get rid of the awful plastic toe clips and eventually swap the wheels out for 27" but other than that it'll do for now.
Spent yesterday at Sargent & Co with Rob, drinking beer, smoking fags and fixin bikes. All good stuff

    indoor camera phone pic fail

  • But the zerogravitys are far more powerful than the KCNC which will be required for the superior eight of my pot belly that you're so adamant I have.

    Three words, HOME GYM, CUNT!

I didn't think power could be an issue with brakes unless your talking about failure under pressure. Brakes are controlled by the strength of finger application.

It used to be. But the use of cam systems can increase braking force dramatically. Geeky but true.

  • I'll be posting this up every so often from now until the big kick off in feb. If you want to add your name to the list just click on thread and do so. Look forward to seeing you all on the rides to beers

New Members Compass Beer Rides: 7pm Departure Trafalgar Sq

Things we do well on this forum, organise and go on a regular basis to Drinks, wherever they may be, and Ride.

So in the spirit of these two elements, comes the all new,
    New Members Compass Beer Rides.

It has been noted that meeting up with a big group of forumengers that you don't know in a pub can be slightly intimidating. So to make it less so, this idea has been put forward to combine drinks and rides.

Think of it as a Forum Fresher's week, without the hazing, so that the previous months new members get a chance to meet up with, and ride with fellow forumengers. Talk bikes, find out where drinks are, and get a good ride in at the same time
You can come out to the beers closest to you, or trek out to a beers on the otherside of town, safe in the knowledge that you'll be with people who a) know where they are going, and that b) someone will be heading back in your general direction so you can ride home in the company of another forumenger.

So For One Week, every couple of months, there will be rides from Trafalgar Sq, to the Beers,

**Monday - Souths @ The Coach and Horses
Tuesday - Norths @ The Flask or
Tuesday - South Easts @ The Kings Arms or
Tuesday - Trixie Dix @ **White's Row Car Park Roof. White's Row, Off Commercial Street
** Wednesday - Easts @ The Royal Inn on the Park
Thursday - Wests @ The Crabtree or The Ship (season dependent)
Sunday - Polo @ Brick Lane Polo Courts.**

A couple of regulars from each beers will be at Trafalgar Sq from approx 6.30 for a prompt 7pm departure, (1pm for a 1.30pm departure on Sunday) And will take any new member who so wishes for a ride which will arrive at beers/polo.

The first Compass Beer Rides will be
    Feb 16-23 2009.

with provisional dates for the following being
    Apr 6-12
    Jun 8-14
    .

So New Members start here, come down to the ride to the beers, introduce yourself to other new and regular members, get a good ride into a beers, enjoy a soothing alcoholic beverage in the soothing presence of your new found bike friends and get a warm and fuzzy feeling at being welcomed into the collective forum bosom.

    Ps.
The meeting up and departure time could be bought forward by half an hour if enough people want to meet and leave earlier.

    That is all...

  • It's getting there... Crap picture blah blah blah.

  • Slim are you in Camden?

  • the one and only! you live nearby?

  • cleaned her up and spent a good few hours touching up the paint. When i said it was in good condition i meant there where scratches all over :) She's nice and shiny now

Thinking of giving her a badge as well, any suggestions? As its unbranded im thinking nothing too fancy, maybe Raleigh?

Out of interest eddie, what paint and technique did you employ for your touching up duties? My Raleigh beater needs a similar makeover.

  • big up Camden Mandem (sorry couldn't help it) that pearson is lookin nice

mate, i firstly scrapped all the crap off the frame with soap, water and white spirit.

Then took some exterior antique white and black paint from B&Q. That works perfectly on metal and leaves a lacquered finish (make sure its exterior) and with a small brush touched up all the flakes. Then gave it a little polish and presto it looks almost new.

Sweet... thanks Ed, I was thinking about sand and spay but the frame doesn't deserve it, so it's B&Q for me.
