I don't race , I ride just for fun

well that explains that, one final question, why would you choose to have sti's over tt shifters etc?
So you can change gear during the technical bits of sporting course TTs/Triathlons. That's the reason Xentis sell them like that, anyway, not sure whether that's actually an advantage in any practical course, splitting the difference between proper TT bars and drops with clip ons. Di2 solves the problem anyway, shift from either position.

well thats that explained thank you

I've wondered why Di2 TT has shifter buttons on the brakes.
In other news.....
Need to get it dialled in for the last of the dry weather, so I can get as many km's on as possible.

+1 to the fireworks- looks great SF, looking forward to the ride reports.
I ordered some new cranks for the System Six, should I get standard or ceramic BB bearings?

Erm...cheers AndyP. I've already agreed to join a team for a 190km race for next year. Hopefully I havent just pissed a load of time and money up the wall. I have a 35km test route in mind which will put it (+me) through its paces.

All my bikes have ceramic BB bearings (even the BJ vigorelli).
They offer little performance advantage over quality standard bearings.
Save very little weight in an area which has the least impact, and
the longevity doesnt save you cash relative to just replace standard bearings x amount of times. You just need them.....like magnets......I cant explain it.

I'm genuinely pleased for you - the time and effort that goes into a build like that is amazing (and rewarding for us weirdos) and it's great when the bike is finished. I was slightly reluctant to ride my 40th birthday bike (that had been three years in gestation) in case I was disappointed in it, which was a bit odd.
Thankfully the ride was amazing and worth the time and effort, so I hope the same is true for you with the BMC. It definitely looks the part!

Fair enough, they add £40 to the price, but I can probably justify that to myself on the "once they are in I can forget about them" front (even if this is not true).

Its built to be responsive above all else. I even dremeled a tune mag 180, to allow the use of wider aero spokes on the rear, for a little added drivetrain responsiveness. A few dozen silly details that might or might not have any real world effect.
I enjoyed putting it together, and it will be fun, I'm sure. But I need to be able to race it (in a close riding group) really.
FTR.
Its under 6.9kg (according to Betterware luggage scales). -

Well done!
So glad to see it finished, it's been a pleasure watching it come together. Altho I'm little sad to see the end of your BMC thread... but then all good things come to an end.

i find good loud music helps. What you can't hear can't slow you down.
right?

True that's why I hate uphill sections, they're terribly loud.

There are some quality brands on EBay. But the fit of the cups will have more of an effect then bearing material. So maybe the cannondale steel ones would be better?

All over Norway, and perhaps in the south west of England?
Forum ride to Norway?
I would'nt bother. weathers turned poo. Shame riding in the night sun, is a a beautiful thing.

I'm going to go for steel- last thing I want is these cranks becoming a source of annoyance.
If you are over in the SW with the bike I'd love to join you for a ride.

Haha there's definitely some truth in that statement! Besides, it's a good workout anyway.
