  • No Flynn but I left your love with the guy behind the bar. No coffee either so I was forced to enjoy an impromptu lunchtime beer and pie.

Front rack is this one from Velo-Orange. I can't find the website I got it from in my browser history. The rack is fitted to P-clips on the forks and then the flange at the rear can be bent to line up with the brake bolt. At the moment the bend is a bit of a bodge and gets in the way of me installing the front mudguard but when I get back I'll set to with a drill (the holes aren't in the right place) and vice to bend it into a snug-er fit.

Coopers Original Pale Ale and pepper steak.

  • No idea why, but I hear something about Brisbane every other day, no other aussie city, weird.

  • Hoping this works: finished Venom, complete with risers and new pedals

  • @Chrismbx : man, you have one of the most depressing wine rack I've ever seen (empty)...
Great bike though ! Everything just fits together, nice job.

Ha, thanks! I tried being smug and having a few bottles in the rack at all times but that turned out to be very, very dangerous...
(I think the bike was 90% forum sourced too, main parts from Conan, Nuknow, Wharry and Mr C and Hilary... for what it's worth).

  • Looks great Chris. Love the tape. Yellow is very July 2011 :)
Did you get it resprayed? If so, where?

  • Cheers Wharry... bars polished up ok, only the deep marks didn't come out...
No respray though, I guess the chips and marks don't come out in the pics.

  • Love it.

  • Sandy Gilchrist TT bike just arrived
    sorry for bad picture

somebody want to enlighten me on these forks? are you going to fit them?

  • well they are 24" and came with the bike ... will put them on as soon as i get a matching 24" front wheel and handlebars

  • 24" but then your headangle would be insane! i wanna see!

  • the problem will be with the BB height, isn't it?

  • Only when cornering really.

  • still not convince...

we will have to wait and see it build it up

  • Sorry for lack of coffee must have got my wires crossed, hope you enjoyed the pie!

Just bought this. Planning to make into fixed gear.
I want to get a flip flop hub wheel .

Need advise. What size rear cog to get and what size crank to get? Thinking 48/18. I dont want to be peddling like mad but i dont want to struggle either.

For the crank when i buy it do i need a spacer? or just put the crank/arm straight on? Please send me info on the right one / size to buy.

Do i need chain tensioner? what size?

my first project should i re-spray the frame?

  • Thinking 48/18.

that ratio should be fine for general riding.

no, the crank goes straight on. buy some square taper cranks off here, and a BB that matches up with the type of bottom bracket shell you have, and preferably with a 42mm chainline depending on what rear hub you're planning to use.

Do i need chain tensioner? what size?

no you can't use a chain tensioner, and don't need one. although on those old peugeot frames you might need to file the dropout so that you can get enough chain adjustment.

my first project should i re-spray the frame?

i wouldn't bother to be honest

    wheels i was thinking of

  • ^^ How much do you want to spend on wheels? Around £130 will get you a good set. Please see Varno's Wheels, or similar.

It looks like there is a bottom bracket in the frame already. Is it smooth? If so, you should be able to use it.

You won't need to file the dropouts as they look plenty long enough.

Don't spray the frame, it's a waste of money.

Make sure you have at least a front brake and also some way of securing your feet to the pedals.

  • What kinda chain do i need? All the ones ive seen say 1/8" is that what i need?
Yeh its going to be a cheep fixie project.

  • ^ have you checked that this frame is the right size for you? it looks 59 or 60cm

    its a 62cm yeh im 6"1

  • .

    Many thanks

  • Chain depends on what you already have/plan on getting.

1/8th will work on 3/32nd but will wear quicker. You don't need a half-link as theres plenty of space in the dropouts.

Crank length? 165 or 170mm will probably be easiest to find. You'll need to find out what length the bottom bracket is so that you know it'll work with the cranks you get.

Don't paint it. Peugeots look nice with their standard paintjob like Liams -
