  • FTFY.
And I would refer you to my recent comment:

heh, funny thing about your piss-taking is that it's not too far from the truth.

The DD going to be interestingly flat.

VeLLO, loved that robert, look like it's exactly your size.

  • Ed, do this.

  • Hahaha, I could put a foam on the handlebar bag...

  • squabs, stop talking bollox, and answer your PM

  • :)

  • Re: Dork wet dreams.... See?!^^^^

Yes that's also why I am glad to have it rather than the Dave Russel, which was an older generation frame (so not so "compact" / longer wheel base, more touring...) and slightly too small (although I managed to set it good enough and it was very comfortable). Dave Russel is 59.5 when Roberts is 61.5. Top tube is 1cm longer too...

  • Thing is about piss-taking, Ed, is it's best to just take it with a pinch of salt.

why Can't people just be nice to a fellow bike rider and stop using up all the salt

  • why Can't people just be nice

    No, you're a cunt.

    :-)

  • Spent the afternoon putting this together: Raleigh Dyna-Tech 700 with DA 7410.
The hardest part was the internal cable routing, very fiddly.
Ran into a little problem with the front derailleur, turned out the seat post is too skinny for the clamp.
Made a temporary shim, but if anybody knows of such a product do tell.
Hopefully tomorrow it'll be done once I've got some new brake/gear cables.

  • my current project.
Thanks forumers spinto for frame and retro_di_corsa for brakes and other bits.
Only not sure about the wheels. C&C are very welcome.

  • looks like its going to be porny

  • +1 Do you know what tubing it is?

  • Fucking hell

looks great. what's it made of?
i think in terms of different sized front derailleur clamps, the 'product' would just be a derailleur with a differnt sized clamp. so either carry on with some shim that doesn't slip, or measure it and get a new front mech.

  • Jambon, how many bikes do you own now?
Looks like you're the new KC ;P

  • I see a potential polo bike...

    You seriously need to HTFU.

Thanks very much. It's Reynolds 2070, which is Manganese Molybdenum butted main tubes. Manganese Molybdenum taper-gauge stays. Bonded to aluminium lugs.
    It's a custom version of Reynolds 653.

After little googling such shims do exist, even made by shimano: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/FD279Z00-Front+Derailleur+Shim.aspx

I only own 3, soon to be just 2. I can see why you think that though, it's just recently I've had to do a bit of shuffling around in order to acquire my Pulse.
KC?! Did you see the 'Fixie' mtb?!

  • "Kingcutter".

    Show me that MTBixie! :O
(unless you meant KC's MTBixie.... ouch, that one I've seen.... what has been seen...etc, etc, etc...)

  • God-effin-damn. Crazy Basso.

  • Thanks for those comments Mr SIMPSON. In September last year I jumpped into the renovation a bit quick and went a bit mad on ebay buying parts I thought I wanted on the finished bike. However, 10 months on and a lot of research later I have realised my mistakes and finally got the bike looking how I really want it to look and to a rideable state. As my first ever restoration I am really pleased with how it looks and rides (anyone from Reading looking for an unused set of baby blue deep V singlespeed wheels or a blue San Marco saddle as they will be on Ebay soon?)

The wheels will change again when I can get some more money to buy a nice set and so will the bottom bracket but as the sun is out I'm gonna get on it and ride it.

Thanks to Unimet painters in Reading, Tony from Retro Cycles in Ascot and anyone who sold me parts.

Please no comments on the wall paper!

  • Building up this 1954 Carlton Continental at the moment.

  • lovely!

  • JAmbon.

SJS do 'em too. If it's for an old Raleigh, you'll want one for 28mm seat tube I reckon.
