^^ Bike doesn't fit. Give it to me. :)

still needs a new seat and possibly a layback seatpost as 54cm tt is still a bit short for me even with the pursuit bars
That is a layback seatpost. A thompson would have a similar amount of layback but would look turd as your seatpost would be bent.

I'll agree since the only time they're crap is on hill.
small wheel + less rotational weight = more effort uphill, and there's a lots of hill in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dale.
but everything else it shine, it help keep an average of 13.7mph for the whole 600km ride, simply because it's stupidly aerodynamic (no wind resistance on wheel, nor frame, luggage can be stack without panniers, easier to accelerate etc.), I was easily able to keep up with Stonehedge on his carbon/alu Pinarello with just a large saddlebag.
I'm on a fench with it, it's great, comfortable, smooth, and fast, but the hill is my favourite, it suck when the bike made it harder to climb, even though I've gotten fitter to do the ride, I love how it handle, I never lean so much on a bicycle that's not a Moulton, and descent is ridiculously easy, even at 40mph, while Stonehedge is gripping on the handlebar trying not to let go due to road vibration.
Going to take the Surly Crosscheck on a light 200 miles tour soon and see how it handle in comparison to the Moulton (100 miles each day).
you really do type out some of the most articulate grade A bullshit sometimes. It's funny.

yellow looks very good... more than i imagine

Fuck me, Ed. You've come out with plenty of duff comments but that one's a belter - Moultons are stupidly aerodynamic with no wind resistance on wheels and frame. Right.
I never felt any cross wind, not a single thing, the smaller wheel mean better aerodynamic, hence stupidly aerodynamic.
isn't that a fact? smaller wheel = less aerodynamic drag?
I've got back on the 700c bicycle tonight, wheel felt a little harder to propelled, but after reaching to a decent cadence, become easier, but after 3 days straight on the Moulton, I can feel the crosswind on the wheel, even a very slight one
mind you, getting up to sprint on the 700c bicycle was refreshing, so much easier.

Moulton: about 10k but less crosswindy. Great.
-
• #48159
Thank fuck I didn't pay Moulton price then.

isn't that a fact? smaller wheel = less aerodynamic drag?
Yes, but...
Since the bars have to end up in the same place, the long headtube/steerer extension/stem add more drag than you've taken away by making the wheel smaller. -
• #48161
But unless you ride a double disc then smaller wheel is going to cause a smaller turbulent area than a bigger wheel?

the RAAM;

.
quite right, especially on muddy ground where it kept wheelspinning and Stonehedge's 700c bicycle just about made it.
doesn't help when I have skinny tyres on in the first place.

And John Woodburn set RRA records on a Moulton too, which proves nothing other than that he was paid to do so. If small wheels were an advantage, pro riders would use them in UCI time trial and track events, the minimum wheel size in the regulations would permit 600C
-
• #48165
I never said small wheel were an advantage.
Just that there are disc on it as oz. questioned earlier.
One thing I did not like about the Moulton is that it's hard to spin without bouncing up and down, easy on a normal frame, but harder when it have full suspension.
I feel it's more of a grinder bicycle than a spinner.
Yes, but...
Since the bars have to end up in the same place, the long headtube/steerer extension/stem add more drag than you've taken away by making the wheel smaller.i suppose the key point is that it feel fast, and that generally quite encouraging, especially with how easy it is to accelerate the Moulton, even if the longer headtube get in the way.

Like an old mini feels fast.
This is so dumb. I was just taking the piss out of Moultons. They are so dorky, people buy them just to make other dorks wet their y fronts. Thing is about piss-taking, Ed, is it's best to just take it with a pinch of salt.

Thank fuck I didn't pay Pashley price then.

Skullhead, I'm trying to explain that the Moulton isn't all that it seemed, it have some pro, but the con is a huge contributing factor that may hindrance your enjoyment.
-
• #48169
hindrance is a noun, Ed
-
• #48170
fuck hindrence and fuck auto correct.
-
• #48171
Do they (moultons) flex a lot - it looks like it would move around a ton if you pushed sideways on the bb
-
• #48172
not many, benny!
-
• #48173
It doesn't, but can be hard to feel when there's a suspension.
-
• #48174
Skullhead, I'm trying to explain ... blah de blah ... I take myself too seriously ... words wrong way round the... your enjoyment.
FTFY.
And I would refer you to my recent comment:... Thing is about piss-taking, Ed, is it's best to just take it with a pinch of salt.

Brompton FTW...
Forum frame, I always wanted a Roberts, because of the nice ones I've seen here...
I am swapping frames on my "road" bike, getting rid of my Dave Russel if that's of interest for anyone...
Can't wait to ride it!
still needs a new seat and possibly a layback seatpost as 54cm tt is still a bit short for me even with the pursuit bars
