  • nice bike. functional. absolutely zero cool though.

  • -thanks to retrodicorsa for most of the gear parts, stem and bars.

    That look awesome.

I highly recommended a handlebar bag, this make it so much easier to keep your usual small camera, snack, wallet, etc. in while the clothes, sleeping bag, etc. go in the racktop bag.

one word; compressor, they make the bulk of clothing even smaller.

This provincial yob thinks it's great.

  • i think that looks really nice -what are those handlebars btw?

Thanks for the comment..the bars are Condor Strada's.

  • recently finished....

Okay, that Raleigh is excellent, right down to the SON hubs.

  • i would ride it like i stole it.
according to orange the 99 clockwork is o.k. up to 100mm

cheers, sounds like a pair of 100m fox forks would be perfect.

Was admiring this on the train from hastings to london on saturday. lovely bike!

Cheers, will consider a handlebar bag. Reccommend any in particular? Id prob like to go with a carradice though to match the rear! Also one with a map holder on top would be handy.

@Jambon- well spotted! Its a raleigh randoneer frame, and had the badge glued back on after the spraying.

  • I had a cheap Carradice CarraDura (and the cheap racktop bag), they were surprisingly fine the whole ride, even during heavy rain as it come with it's own rain cover.

If you got the Super C racktop bag ( just ordered one to replace the current one), I advised the Super C handlebar bag, it should be a lots more breathable as despite my CarraDura bag being fine, it's a little humid inside when the weather was sporadic, but not enough to affect electronic equipment.

    My light touring set-up, minus the tent and sleeping bag;

  • I picked this frame up a few weeks ago of a guy who used to race it locally.
Not sure of the age but it does seem reasonably old with the lug work. Early 1980's?

Built up with mostly campy parts excluding the Old Suntour Superbe head set. Hopefully find a campy headset and get a shorter stem for it. 130mm it a bit much for me!

Undecided if I should run it with yellow or black tape and saddle...

I think i'm liking the yellow more!

  • I'm pretty sure I was just randomly taking the piss, the bent seat tube on that BSO is not fully exploited to shorten the chainstays, which seems to have been a major preoccupation on the Polorrell

hahaha i just got defensive, had so many people jibe at me about the fecking bike im gettin twitchy ;)

  • nacnud, definately go for the yellow, really pretty build that.

  • yellow!

  • Black! (looks lovely)

  • not had a project for two years.............so i* might* wash it!

Awesome frame and stunning with the yellow.

I'd use some yellow bar tape rather than Benotto tape (pictured), for comfort but also because It's a 70s thing – so it looks a little out of place IMO.

  • Yellow.

  • Black (minus the jag stem)
    Either way is lovely!

  • God, murtle's 'property of lfgss' bike is ace.

I couldn't get on with my SLR murts, tried it on my new roadie. You must have a tough arse.

  • oi! steady!

also the 80ies, man, so looks fine

  • Mercian is perdy. Both setups.

Cool. What elastic ties are you using on the rear bag?

P.S. Is the chain ring really big or just looks it?

  • has to be bigger because of the smaller wheels.
