  • Finally done, built up with stuff from the parts bin and the w/e is already over. Arrgghhh.

It's not single yet and I doubt it's swift, but I bet it's gonna be fun.

  • Quick update on the ALAN project

Not too far off, should get it finished this weekend with any luck. Will post another pic once it's done.

    Finished!

  • I didn't think asking for help was such a burden to some people

    thanks anyway

people gave you their opinions and what they classed as help and you basically refused it because it looks like you were set on the maurice before you even asked the question.

  • that alan is really nice, the red outer really works.

i wasn't set on the maurice at all

just hoped to get some suggestions on a few other bikes to look for, something i haven't thought of

I feel sorry for anyone that actually has to interact with you in real life. Every time I see you post here it is the same..

people were telling you not to get the maurice because you can get a lot better for the money, the fuji track classic for example.
you asked for opinions, don't be a dick when people give you them.

    +1. Totally gorgeous.

  • It's weird riding a fixed road frame again. It took a few miles today to get used to the low bb. It should be ideal in the winter (with better tyres).

  • Great looking concorde, welcome to the club! Did 50 very windy km on mine this morning just to turn the legs. Love it so.

Ironic username. Maybe a bit of courtesy would help?

  • added new stem and bars ... also i treated myself to a pair of shamals :D
now only need bartape and a new saddle.

not sure if white or black ... does white bartape get dirty rather quickly?
white would look better in combination with the white decals imo.

  • my mate had white and its gets pretty dirty but you don't really notice it change as it happens over time only realise how dirty it is once you compare it to what it was originally

  • hey schnitter, how bigs that merckx?

  • 64cm :D
tiny bit too big maybe, but it was so cheap ... i had to take it

  • White stuff I had got dirty pretty quickly but it looks better worn in anyway. Lovely bike, serious envy

    Thanks. It rides nicely.

I think white tape looks best when it's er... white.

It's a hassle IMO if you pay for the tape yourself. It's fine if you don't, and have a mechanic to tape your bars before each ride.

  • Nice but where's the gears?

  • probably a bit of a sin to post this since it's no longer singlespeed nor is it a road bike but nevermind.

first time i've had a geared bike in about 5 years. very odd but i think i like it
still needs a shorter stem and tyres but they'll have to wait until i win the lottery

  • What, no big ring?

  • Right - My Carlton track is at a framebuilders - Small crack in the seatclamp. Unfortunately this means the powdercoat in that area is getting f*cked up. Time for a fresh one (Can't afford a proper re-spray unfortunately)

Is black a sensible, hard wearing, and less likely to get it nicked colour? Or just boring?

Did you take it to Perks?

Black is ok, but it is boring when you consider Bournes can do ANY colour (almost).

  • Nice but where's the gears?

It would make a nice geared bike.

It's a rain/beater bike really. Forward facing dropouts, chain adjusters and the geo are all better suited to this than a track frame.
