All the pieces are here for my audax bicycle upgrades this weekend. It's the first time I've ever replaced gears myself but fingers crossed it shouldn't be that hard .... should it?

It isn't! I really want a new project to fiddle with, hmm

Oh I hope not. I've got quite a few guides on youtube in my favourites just in case I just stuck. I'll also leave this forum open on the 'any question answered' thread!

front mech is the most peculiar part. there's angle, height, and limiting screws.
trick is you want it a low as it can be to clear the outer most ring. then set the out limiting screw so that it shifts. into the big ring, then adjust the inner screw so it shifts into the smaller ring, then adjust the angle so that it barely rubs the chain when in the small cog/small ring and still doesn't rub at all with big cog/small ring.
that should do it.
the rest is chain length and the rear mech is pretty easy.

Sounds simple enough.
I've got a 9 speed front mech and rear as they as compatible with 10 speed I've read online.
But to make things smoother I probably will upgrade them at some point.

Bike update:
So I've owned my current main bike for EXACTLY one year today! To celebrate, I decided to measure the top-tube and the seat-tube. 60cm and 59cm respectively.
Photos to come.

Hi, this is not yet a running project but I bought this a while ago and only recently got it back to my house to start thinking about how to build it up - loads of ppl on here have pics of nice bjs and opinions on them.. thought I might tap in as I have built 1 bike up before with help from my lbs and it was a gaint fail. My current fixed is a bianchi bodged to something better which I like.
But with this, I'm after a light/day tourer that I can go weekend camping with (rack, guards, comfort etc). Not sure if I want a low fixed gear or actual gears. I love fixed but I have my day to day fixed bike for kicks already.
If I get round to drumming up the will and some fitness I plan to cycle to the Med next summer on it...hard but not averse to doing that fixed with a 60 inch gear and a free side.A friend said a classic 5 speed build. sounded cool but a good quality indexed set up probably don't exist (?).
another mate said all modern or all classic. so was thinking 105 it up.Now I'm thinking hub gears...
Also, will a quill stem fit over these new fangled ergo/comfy bend bars?
replies on a postcard

The dropout and hanger at the back suggests gears.

KevIf you buy a modern group you'll have issues with brake drop and mounting hole diameter; in other words factor in for a whole group and another set of brakes.
There aren't any compact bars available in 26.0 clamp - I tried to find some but gave up and am running a quill convertor. It doesn't actually look that bad. Alternatively there are some fairly shallow bars by Deda which will take a 26.0 stem.
I tried touring fixed once (albeit fully loaded). It was a bad idea, so I recommend gears.

Hating on spoks is dull and tedious.

Hating on spoks it not a joke. They're ugly. Especially when there's only one of them

I tend to agree, but it's not yours and you don't have to ride it.
Its just a tad boring.

I wouldn't mind them so much if they weren't almost exclusively put on frames that are cheaper than the wheel.

wouldn't be my first choice on what looks to be a trick build, for strength reasons already highlghted... all stealth like that though reckon it'll look alright.

It is something I am putting together...not looking to spend loads. The spok I already had, that is why I am going to use it. not really looking to make a statement.
Just looking to keep it simple

if you're doing it on a budget why not respray the spokk, sell it to some hipster for loads of dowrah and buy a matching front wheel and some 3 piece cranks with the proceeds?
just saying, would make sense.

Hello, does anyone have any experience with Cooper bikes, struggling to find much about them as they are pretty new

They're pretty decent, cost a bit though.
they're kinda like an upmarket Charge Plug with better tubing.
wow massive, will edit
