I've been seeing weird behaviour from the attachments for a couple of days, which I put down to issues with the CDN/Cache.

Is there a limit for image size in threads?
I [img] tagged a picture but it has reverted to a hyperlink?

Witcomb track is taking shape. Miche lf laced to rigida chrina, panaracer pansela, velox etc so aiming for a "classic" build.
I would love to find out more about the frame, I know Witcomb kept records but since they went out of business I have zero idea how to access the information. -

Yes, 1024px for embedded images, and if your post contains more than one image, all will be converted to links if any one of them exceeds the limit.

+1, but not wiv attachments. Every time I post ANYTHING, it shows a warning that I need to wait 5 seconds to repost the same message. As if...

I've been getting that too, didn't occur to me that it was the image causing it

So you can see the attachment? It doesn't show up on my screen, was about to post a flickr link.
Unfortunately the other side was missing it's rivet and was split :( otherwise I might have reattached it. I've got a load of stuff that will need selling at some point so might throw it in there for free if anybody wants it but I doubt they will.
Any recommendations about how to go about DIY brass filling? Need to keep costs to a minimum and don't know where I'd get it filled in Oxford.
Give Mountain Mania a call (01235 759366) they're based in Didcot and deal with frame repairs so may be able to help you out.

I'm having a slight issue with a headset on one of my bikes, and I'm hoping someone can offer advice. It's a 1 inch threaded Stronglight (piece of shit) headset. The crown race is a loose fit on the forks - I was wondering whether I should just loctite it up, or whether it's worth buying a better fitting headset? The other issue is that I have tightened the headset so that the forks turn smoothly in the frame without any tight-spots but there is still play in the headset. If I tighten it up any more then the forks don't turn smoothly, is the play likely to be down to the crown race being a bit loose?

27.0 crown race on a 26.4 fork? Probably best to get a new headset which fits rather than trying to track down a matching crown race. No readily available adhesive will hold against the forces involved, so don't waste your time trying that route. And yes, the play is probably the fork crown moving back and forth inside the crown race, something which will eventually destroy your fork even if you could ride around the horrible handling.

^ did you get the titanox rails?
no just steel, the titanox ones arent reduced as much

Its just they were selling titanox ones, for 14, but sending steel... i sent it back, weird.

OK, thanks for that.

Possibly the wrong place to ask this question, but I'm going for it! I'm after one of those double bottle cage holder thingies that attach to the seat post for a decent price but cant seem to find any that aren't make of thick horrible black plastic. I've checked on fleabay... problem may be that I don't know exactly what they're called. Any help folks?

Profile Aquarack is seatpost mounted but fairly expensive (~£40), although it does include the two cages.
For about £15 (without cages) you can get a Minoura one which mounts to the saddle rails http://www.wiggle.co.uk/minoura-sbh-300-dual-bottle-cage-mount/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products -

cheers
already scheduled a visit to Krylatskiy velodrome workshop tomorrow afternoon, to face some Cr-Mo off, then we'll seeIf it fails, It is possible to lengthen the steerer without a doner steerer tube, but its tricky, and you need to know the right kind of people and possibly also have a bribe of some sort ready for them.
Here's the thread. Its in Danish so bear with me. Pictures are half way down.
http://fixie-king.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=7632&start=80As it happens I have access to a lathe and a bit of metalscraps so I made a "dorn" (translation needed) to fit the inside of the steerer within a 0.1mm tolerance. That way, I was sure the rest of the steerer would'nt go out of balance when I welded it back on.
Its a hack bike so its not very pretty but it works like a charm. And you woun't see it when its mounted. And obviously you could make it way lighter and probably prettier

i think a 'dorn' is a sleeve.
the idea being that you chop off the steerer, slip braze a sleeve inside and then basically extend the steerer tube. pretty tricky work obviously as if you braze it you have to not heat the joint at the fork crown for obvious reasons. might be better to weld? i'm not sure.

ah i see you've mig welded it now.

I think "Spigot" is as good a word as any. I've extended a Moto Guzzi kickstand and a set of Easton Attack tri-bars with the same method.
Did you go for 0.1mm clearance or 0.1mm interference fit? I'd have gone for the latter if welding, the former for brazing.

really TALL cannondale track.jpg
What is this 'ART' of which you speak?
I know somewhere that has a few 25.4mm Grammo stems in 110+ I think.
