  • If it's not original then go for it.

I'd choose plum or burgundy with gold lettering.

  • I can't think of a reason to spray it. It's nice. Just tilt your bars up a bit, and sort your front brake blocks out... good to go.

    :D

  • its not original. British racing green on a Bianchi?
    I was actually thinking Plum...

  • ^ aye the bars have already been adjusted.

  • Ok. It's a Bianchi. That is a good reason.

I thought it was something English.

  • Burgundy with gold lettering...

  • Exactly. That's pure win.

...altho I haven't worn my hair like that for years now.

If it's a Bianchi then (depending on your budget), I'd either go for perlecent white, or perlecent white with blue, green, celest stripes.

    What year is it?

  • its not even fully deflated a day later. i wonder if its just not holding the air very well? seems to hold it for a solid few hours at 110psi...

i have tracked down a set of generic wheels off a bianchi pista for now for the road and il keep these for the track, so it should all be ok.

Beige Schwalbe Luganos would look nice on that if you've not sorted your tyres yet. + they're pretty cheap. Did me well on the road.

Had my Dawes Fireball resprayed and started putting it back together this evening, got scared getting the headset back on so off to LBS tomorrow, nothing new per sé other than colour and I got a custom headbadge. Because I was that way inclined...

Bubblesworth is what I shall affectionately refer to it as.

Is this glued on? Who made it? I made a head badge out of copper (http://chrisborneorestos.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/blog-042.jpg) and some other bits recently and been thinkin of doing some more

I'm not really bothered about having original colours on it to be honest, I don't think ill be putting any Bianchi decals on it either, I just want a colour I like. I think the previous owner said the frame was from the late 70s..?

  • Burgundy with gold lettering...

I had one, more Red and Gold.

  • That's a nice bike.

How about a Bianchi in silver/black decals.

Sort-of opposite of the expected bright colours of an Italian frame. Like a black Ferrari (always amazing) or dirty grey Lambo (phwooooar)?

  • thanks very much! The frames a 14 Bike Co - truman.

  • Ah I should have guessed. My kinda thing completely.

  • oh you poor thing.... this might have been one of your worst purchases so far. have you been reading this forum, like, at all?..

Yeah of course ive read up about these frames, a lot actually. No need to assume ive made some blind purchase cos its purple and shiny. You've given a lot of advice about them too, ive read it, and i aint saying do dont know your shit. The price was right, ive got most of the components, its should make a tough tarck beater. No need to call me out like that really.

  • Bought this, ended up paying a fair bit more than i wanted because of customs and exchange rates, but it came today and its pretty nice.

Going to build it up with some fitting components and see how i like it. Only ever had lugged road bikes and tig welded track frames so its kind of a first for the collection. Its fairly light, and the clearances are nice, ill update when its done.

That is niiiice! Glad you found something... enjoy the steel!

  • So first off is a ciooc frame that I have only just aquired, hopefully going to be a nice fixie conversion.

The Ciöcc is nice, but needs a LOT of TLC.

Shifter: since the D-clip is gone, you need some kind of (combination) pliers to get the bolt off. Usually you would unscrew the wing type bolt with your fingers or just stick a thin screw driver through the D-clip, but now you've got to use pliers.

Front brake calliper: 5mm Allen key ?

Stem: unscrew 1cm with 6mm Allen key, hit hard on the bolt head with a hammer and twist and pull it out. Some HTFU may be useful here.
If still stuck: more HTFU or read all related topics here. Many liquids availabe to loosen all kinds of corrosion.
If still not loose: cut it just above the headset and make 2 cuts in length direction of the quill with a saw blade.

BB: special SKF/Thun/Shimano BB-UN10-style tool. You can borrow mine...

And sanding man, lots of sanding!

  • Two recently finished projects, a early 80ies Benotto Mixte (for my girlfriend) and a mid 70ies Presto E.Stroober (Amsterdam):

The Presto just needed a new handlebar tape, chain and freewheel. The Benotto is a complete rebuild, including new paint (no powder!):

  • Both are lovely!

Hey DC, thank you for your advice and it would be great if i could borrow your bb tool, cheers. Yeh I know she is going to be a lot of work but will be awesome when she is done! I just bought a lot of sand paper :) And yeh i've tried to shift the allen bolt on the brake but it's really stuck, I will try the HTFU stuff. Great tip on the stem, I was actually sat thinking about this earlier and thought it maybe worth a try :)

  • ^^What Dwayne said

  • i found plusgas to work the best with stuck stem. when that didnt work caustic soda did wonders.

  • Lovely Presto there!

Super-glued, yes. Although I'm thinking of removing it and re-applying with araldite... I think I saw your head badge project on here, or got linked to your blog elsewhere, and it pretty much set the ball in motion to make mine. However, I have not got the skills to make one myself and I found someone on etsy who would make them for £40, which was less than me buying copper and welding stuff myself and trying to learn.

might have gone for dark blue or black bartape on the Presto, but both are pornworthy methinks.

    edit: already in there :)
