  • That cyfac is real nice.

don't you need the lockring? or are you never stopping?

  • What's with the signatures on the chain stays? Something custom?

  • Fantastic looking groupset. I hear the hubs are top notch.

  • Sweet 'FIXIE' sticker.

    ;)

    +1

hasnt he got a lockring? i can see one

  • Wow full mavic build, awesome!
That frame is throwing me for a loop tho...

    3 questions:

    • Why does it say FIXIE by the seat cluster?
    • Why does the top tube sloping so much?
    • Why is the stem so high?
  • hasnt he got a lockring? i can't see one

my mistake, didnt see that one hiding under the saddle :)

  • Grand Bios

Are these a good idea for London's streets?

  • thank you
Mavic bottom bracket lockring is "decorative"
Signature frame builders and painter CYFAC
    No sticker full paint jobs

    slooping for rigidity
saddle height is in my study postural CYFAC

  • Great Cyfac, (almost) full Mavic is beyond Ace... shame about the 'fixie' sticker. Mon dieu...

They'll be fine, just ride in the primary position instead of near the gutter, of which you will get punctured.

Well you'll certainly have the comfiest commute if you can get away with it.

  • like I said earlier, bigger tyres = less chance of puncture, especially when you run them at a lower pressure.

I used to run Grand Bois 30c tyres, and hasn't had a puncture, perhaps I'm just lucky or perhaps the fact I run them at 70psi helped.

  • Why does bigger tyre/lower pressure give more protection against flats than smaller/higher?

I've not heard of this before.

  • Only thing that springs to mind is that it's easy to pierce a plastic film if it's stretched over a tray, much harder if it's flacid, it that makes sense?

  • It might mean that the tyre deforms over whatever is going to give you a puncture. But if it's a piece of glass/thorn it's gonna go in there whatever.

  • physics, its all about pressure and area

  • Bring the science rik.

    :0

  • as I understand it, the bigger the area (tire) the bigger the pressure (glass) you need to break it (punch)

thats why big tires and low pressure work well or really high pressures in smaller tires, like in tubs

my english is not the best to explain this... maybe tester will do a better job

  • @Ed
what do you recommend between the Grand Bois Cerf Tyre 28mm and the Grand Bois Cypres Tyre 32mm for my classic tourer? they are both on sale at px atm.

I use omega Vs on my road bike. braking is a worse then on my mavic cd but I still havent broken through the paint yet. I suspect that once i get to the metal it will be better.

  • @ rik.

The required pressure drops as the volume increases – I understand that. Not sure how this would affect puncture resistance.

I'd have thought a wider tyre has (slightly) more chance of picking up sharp debris.

  • Is that a cock ring?
