I just bought this.
As best I know, it's an early-nineties Colnago Super.
Look more early eightie than nineties.

Ok this is my project...first build ever, I got the whole bike for 40 swiss francs (27 £). The brand says 'WEINMANN', I think it is a swiss bike, bought it only because I want to restore it and 'train' on it. Bike was very dirty and rusty.
I then took off everything that was too old or I didn't like (like the geared hub or the derailleur or brakes)
Couldn't get the bottom bracket...it's really stuck. But it works.
I am now taking off the paint...long job...and then I'll paint it again. This is the hardest part...because after that, once the frame is ready, all I have to do is use $$$$ to buy parts and mount them...of course my idea is that of paying as little as possible. I know I won't have a good bike but it will be my first, cheap build.

3) rbh0riz0nit's not getting puppy killed. It would be quite nice with some drop bars and sram s500 levers rather than priest bars.

@Bjorn - can we get some more pictures? That thing is beautiful. Would be better as a period roadie IMHO.
I know, I know, but it was a deal too hard to pass..
I'll be building it up for a friend, so I'm trying to convince him to spend a little more to at least use some proper parts.
Just found some NOS Cinelli Valencia/Pope/Priest bars and already have a XA stem and DA seatpost.
Furthermore, I'm thinking about a Regal saddle and probably strip the paint of these rims, but not yet sure what hubs to build them up with.
Might swap the DA/600 parts for Campa.Tips for budget-ish but fitting parts are welcomed.

am i the only one thinking that macready's mick ford would look great with a modern group on?

^ a 90's Chorus in silver would look good on it.

you ok bro...?
it's got bottle bosses and cable guides, more likely a converted road frame than anything else.
Looks good to me, although I would have it fixed if I were riding it, see no probs with it being ss.
I haven't noticed those things. Looks like i'm blind, sorry!

thats what I was thinking, defiantly campag

Bars are the biggest concern, I need to get some wheels in to see how it sits though. Definitely going to be a (mostly) modern build though.

Tel has chorus groupset...

nitto b25200a bars would be cool

Too pricey as I only need a crankset + bb, seatpost and brakes for now.
Got my eyes on a crankset and seatpost. While I'm at it, which width bb is needed to get a chainline at about 43mm with Chorus roadcranks (outer ring preferably)?

Proper faux pro, looked like a bigger drop in the auction shot.

that Coppi on the last page is awesome. Maxl has a NOS one of those frames - he told me they only made them with the seat cluster like that for a year as they were banned by the UCI or something

I like the look of the geo. Really nice frame that is.

Magic ratio 32-14 for that particular c/stay

Hey folks,
I was wondering if this was the right location to get some aesthetic tips. This is my bike as it was 10 months ago and the only thing that's changed is that I've added a rear brake as it's single speed. For some reason I don't like the way it looks.
Maybe it's the geometry; it is quite a tall frame, apparently 64cm. Maybe it's the blue colour scheme. When I first posted this pic GA2G PM'd me with some suggestions for making the bar grips, saddle and tyres tan. Maybe it's the silver cranks and pedals.
Can anyone point out what's specifically "off" about how my bike looks? Sorry for the photo, this is honestly the clearest open space in my minuscule flat. If you like I can take a pic in a more open, outdoor space tomorrow.
