Oh you been to South America then! are you going to be at South soon so I can pick your mind about which route is the best to go between Bolivia and Chile? as I'm having a hard time figuring it out, I've done Ecuador and Peru, currently doing Columbia.
If memory serves me correctly the only direct way without going via argentina is across the salar, but im not entirely sure how feasible that would be on a bicycle. even if you cant ride it, the salt flats are essential viewing for anyone visiting south america!

I'm definitely going to the salt flat, even though you're mostly likely to get a puncture of all Places!
Will do some research on the salad, ta lemonade.

Its not really the terrain id be so worried about, but rather the distances/temperatures involved between the various stops/camps. Its a long way in a 4x4 and its fucking parky up there!

Nice photo. How have you set up the lights? Have you got a remote flash set up? Or is it just a floodlight in the background?

What size are those rings?
50:34, its lumpy up here. I wanted 50:36, as the 36t would get more use, but these came up cheap. The standard rings are alledgedly a bit flexy for only 7g or something weight saved. This is demonstrated by the even the weight concerned climbers from Cervelo using the areo ring (nothing to do with the bigger brand logos, ahem). But mainly the aero rings are more pimp'n ;)

Swapped out the RB201 bullhorns for some older Nitto bullhorns and wrapped them in yellow Benotto tape. Now I need to clean up my old yellow turbo to match!
How did you wrap these? From the middle outwards or from the barends in? And did you wrap it outside the end caps? I can't work out how to make the tape stick doing that. I'd be interested to know.

Selle Italia Ti Gel Flow SLR now on the Fort, Brooks was killing me, I'll try and break it in a bit more gently on something else.

Moulton now up and running but only 3 of the 4 gears seem to want to work- lost the lowest gear, I think this is because the shifter level hits the bars before engaging. I am really looking forward to my commute on Monday morning now!!
And many thanks to the forumgers who have helped to source any parts for this- cheers guys -

Spotter did you get the Ti Raleigh off eBay? £130 in the end, sort of wish i had bid...

me? No. I kinda wanted it but my next bike is going to be plastic with lots of shifty bits.
I'm having second thoughts about this brooks I just bought. I thought they were meant to be the most comfy saddle? -

The design dates from the Spanish Inquisition when Torquemada extracted confessions with a Brooks saddle.

ex shop display apparently. We'll see I guess. Shouldn't be hard to sell if I don't like it.

Can you use the cheaper Shimano chains with DA or do you need to use the ones quoting DA in the name?

So it turns out the frame mesures 23", a little to big for me! I know I should have checked before I stripped her, but I got too excited at the prospect of a fixie project :(
Anyway, I've decided to restore her instead and pass her back to my landlord/mate (the original owner - I found out the bike has lots of sentimental value to him, that's why he hasn't chucked it). I'll give it back to him a birthday gift or something...isn't that nice :)
anyway more scrubbed components

I'd give it a few weeks. It will stay looking new for long enough to sell it easily even if it doesn't improve.
