this arrived in the post yesterday (sorry Melon...) and I am getting my head round a build. I am thinking about going for Truvativ Omniums as I think they will suit the frame and they are meant to be super stiff. However I have heard reports of crank slap on frames with thicker chain stays. The Hinde frame has mahusive stays. They are rectangular though, so maybe they will be thinner then an oval of the same size, hmm.
any thoughts or advice for better cranks?
the back of the spider doesnt clear the chain stays on some frames it's true. you use a spacer if this happens

This doesn't sound right. What kind of a frame is made with stays so wide that cranks with a 42mm chainline and a wide Q?
I say this is intenets bollox

the stock forks are alu but the steerer is steel. Carbon forks really make it ride better and smoother.

the forks on the Hinde are carbon. very very light too. frame and forks weigh in just under 1.4kgs which is nice.
I think it may be internet bollocks too but dont want to risk shelling out £130 for cranks and them not fitting without going through a faff.

its not bollox, the clearance is very close on my brooklyn. where have you seen them for £130?
-
• #41536
I can get them at trade from Fishers for £130 or there abouts.

New front end, ambrosio stem, 3ttt track bar...
-
• #41541
Turns out that the eigthinch bars are an odd-ish size (26.0mm) which limited stem choice.[/IMG]
Yes, that odd size which was the road bike standard from at least the 1970s (Except Cinelli, for a while) to the present day, where 31.8 is probably has the majority of the market but there is still plenty of 26.0 product being made.

Bored while on ebay, i picked up this beauty for a mere £38; a 1960s (i think) Moulton Mini in pretty good nick.
After removing everything that seemed unnecessary ,I believe i've successfully made it look proper silly, i'm not denying that. But it's right fun for popping to the shops on. -

All the kids will be wanting these this summer. I stole the idea from Tom who i work with, he's got a gold one set up very similar.
I saw a lushy lilac coloured one go for thirty-something on t'bay the other day.
They are indeed awesome. -

They're 16". It came with 14x1 3/8 wheels, but a regular 16" isn't much different sizewise; 14x1 3/8 is 298 and regular 16" is 305. Got some 16x1.25 tyres as well, the rear won't take bigger than a 16x1.5 really. Seatpost is 28.6 i think.

Just got the BobJackson "beater" back from Vaz (The purple one; The other is also a BJ which is going to Vaz soon for the "special occasions bike").
Finishing up building the wheels tomorrow (GranCompe hubs with Mavic Pro rims), got cinelli/campy "bits", SuginoDS cranks/BB and Concor saddle ready for a Saturday ride!
Really happy with Vaz's work so far. I'm trying to resist building it up quickly and riding it everyday on my commute to let the paint harden.
