Does that have to have any form of licencing?
-
• #41353
yes but i found out the because i had a 50cc bike when i was 16 then took my car test within 2 years. apparently this means i have a cbt still.
its also from 1971 so i believe this makes it tax exempt?Cant wait to see the world at 20mph.

Kernowsibley, are you that slow that you can't reach 20mph on a bicycle?
-
• #41355

Nah its just a bit of fun for the summer in Cornwall.
-
• #41356
I've just spent some time Googling Autocycle's and Cyclomotor's.
Looks like I have sorted out my summer project.
Kernowsibley- I presume you need a VED disc and insurance?

please point me to the actual drive from engine to rear wheel?
-
• #41359
Roller that sits on the rear wheel- notice that the mudguard is cut away under the motor to allow this.

-
• #41364
I'll have a dig.
Tried a few 'lightweight' innertubes and the only ones that seem any good are the michelin aircomp ultralight.
Tubs innit.

My Dad's got a couple of them. He's also got about 5 push-bikes with engines mounted either to the frame, or built into one of the wheels. I'll try and post some pics soon...

When I was younger loads of young ppl had modern versions of those, bc you could ride them at 14.
Pininfarina did a updated velosolex:
We've still got a seriously battered old one in our barn that everyone's tried and failed to mend.

Look half way down on this thread..I tried mixing old and new and it doesn't IMHO work. Whereas a carefully put together restoration looks beautiful..
You have to have a modern bike and an old one. In between just looks in between.I've seen many nice restorations on this forum, but in the end it's nothing very exciting or personal (to me).
If you're
analobsessivededicated enough to strip off a pretty sound looking, smart, some would even say schweet paintjob - and replace it with, it has to be said, another pretty fine one - because it had the wrong decals on, you're not gonna fuck up on the build. Because there will be dissapoint.
I can if I want, as long as I like the contrast. It's all about personal appreciation IMHO. -

1st of January 1973 is the cut off for tax exemption.......anything made before is, anything *made *after, isn't.......so you should be cool
