It is a track frame after all.
nothing wrong with Dolan to be honest, they're decent frame for the money.
I understand a track frame will be a bit more twitchy and responsive but I never liked riding the Dolan. Ridden an old frame of his and it was lovely. The new ones not so.
My point is that you can get the same frame for much cheaper if you don't mind not having a recognised brand on your frame. The V-Sprint frames are practically identical.

^Uh uh.. Look at the clearances and wheelbase of the V-Sprint.. It's bad..
-
• #41154
But okay.. i'm biased: did chose to get the awful Dolan decals off..

I was thinking Thomson stem, but what would a decent lighterweight option be?
-
• #41167
I'm going for either a cane creek S2 or campag record

you get some new forks then?

Thanks Brother.
The bars are indeed 3t Xida Teams and Jersey is right, they are silly.
The rims are stripped and re-anodised IRD Cadence Aeros, it would be alot cheaper to use Deep Vs or the like but that's no fun.
Yep, the couplers are pretty light. Much of the added weight was offset by getting the frame TIG'd instead of brazed.cheers for the info.
I've got some pretty damn rough roads around here (far too much for 19mm tubs/20c clinchers) so I'm seriously considering going to a carbon bar & post, as I love riding, but i hate busted wrists. Trying to figure just how much difference it will make? I know on my mtb a few years back I got hold of a set of easton bits and that made a massive difference on days with lots of tarmac in them.
also after a pair of semi-aero rims, don't want massively deep V's just a little hint of something to take the eye away from teh fact I'll be running 700c on a bike designed for 27" :s -

Just need an Izumi V chain and some carbon assembly paste for the seatpost, and its ready for the track!
Look, alright, I hate to be the one to say it, but people have GOT to stop building the bike I want.
I've been planning a PX Track just like this, for ages, and now Spaghoops has STOLEN IT FROM THE INSIDE OF MY MIND. Worst thing is, he's not the first! I think it's Gizmond who already had a crack at my idea-bike. He even got the bars right.
It's just unacceptable, alright?

lulz
i dont think however idea is that innovative
-
• #41174
Pretty much all PX builds look the same. Ugly as hell.
Hopefully it will be awesome to ride though!I have a +5 degree Thomson on there too, which isn't doing it any favours in the looks department.

does anyone know where I can find a 94mm bcd 1/8 32t chainring?
Can find loads of the thinner type but I'd really like a 1/8 to match the rear sprocket and chain.
yes, as that is what is on the mercks they are on at the moment. A bit rubbish to say the least!
The brakes on the tourer are centre pull, which I was advised would work fine, or at least better. I had thought of bar end shifters and seperate brakes levers but then the record ergos came up so took that route instead.
To start with light touring, in an attempt to get my girlfreind into cycling. First trip is a few days in france. I expect to carry most of the weight mind you.
