that's what I thought ;)
there's a few other deals out there but i've got too many bicycle parts lying around the house.
i might actually sell on the frame as it's a little small for me... -
• #4103
nope, local here in belgium (i'm in antwerp, bike was in ghent)... i paid 250 euro (=235 pound) for the frameset, campa 165mm pista cranks, 50t campa pista chainring, wheels with campa hubs (tubs though, so relacing them on open pros), dura ace seatpost.
not suuuper cheap but cheap enough.Good buy!

Sorry for the crappy photos...
And I have to agree with Planet X that a front tub bigger than the 21mm I used would be a problem:
(And don't say anything about the tubs not being mounted with the decals on the same side :( doh.. but at least they don't look like it matters)
edit: and all the crap behind the bike is not mine! :)

DILEMMA:
a) drill fork (puppies will die, i guess?)
b) get clamp-on brake (looks shit, brakes pretty shit too)
c) ride brakeless (losing front teeth in a crash once is enough, thank you)
d) get another fork
e) sell frameset onmental note to self: next time think about the front brake situation BEFORE buying a frame ;)
-

d) or b) or c) with a spinnier gearing
-
• #4107
dogmatic: your only options are d and e. Fork swap for the win!
DON'T drill! -

@ haj. That is a really nice ride there, well done. Ride it hard my friend.
-
• #4109
dont drill

• #4110
fork swap would be a pity as it matches the frame perfectly colourwise... I could look for a white fork and rattlecan the blue fade on it though...
hmmm
maybe just sell it and buy another frame...riding brakeless/crappy brakes are not an option... i like the idea of brakeless but i love the idea of good brakes... the sound of teeth exploding upon contact with the rear of a renault espace is still too vividly present in my memory... and so is the 2500 euro bill to get them replaced.

brakeless is for chipmunks that lack the coordination to operate a simple lever ;)

Okay... I now officially admit I own too many bikes and/or bike parts.
I was thinking it might be easier to sell that fondriest on than to find white forks in the right size while all that time I have an old white road frameset lying around with a drilled fork that is EXACTLY the same length as the fondriest fork (a little more rake though) AND i happen to have a can of spraypaint that I used to make custom graphics on a skateboard for a friend's son that is EXACTLY the same blue as the fondriest's fades...Fork swap it will be!

Nice! bet it's a bullet
what disc is that? -

DON'T drill!
why?
that particular crown doesn't look as if it would like a brake, that's true.
But lots of other track forks can be drilled for a brake no trouble. -

Doubled plate forks are as rare a hens teeth
You just decided to throw away the very thing that makes that bike
Ride brakeless & Spinny
SLOW DOWN

i disaggree.
first of all, i am not throwing it away; i am storing it for when i resell the bike at a premium to someone anal enough about everything being 'right' and 'as it is supposed to be' to spend way too much money on it.
and... if i wanted to ride slowly i wouldn't buy a bike that's made to go fast. i would buy a full suspension city bike with a nice comfy saddle the size of a couch. using a brake is not only about going fast, it's also about being able to react to motorists, tram drivers, peds and other cyclists who aren't paying attention to the rest of the road users. sure, you can try to anticipate every situation, but shit is going to happen and when it does, i'd rather have a brake on my bike.
and lastly, couble plate forks are not THAT rare. there are still plenty of them around and they can still be made if you really want one.
that's just my thought anyway.

i doubt going brakeless mean you have to be slower thought.

There are doubled plated fork crowns that came drilled, so not sure of the problem ?

But lots of other track forks can be drilled for a brake no trouble. It's not a strength issue, it's the fact that it's a nice fork and shouldn't be fucked up just for a fixed conversion. Fork swapping allows resale of original bike.. like my Raleigh.

maybe not, but going brakeless safely does!

exactly... which is also why i never removed all the gear-related braze-ons of either of my road-fix conversions...

Brakeless does make you slower unless you are riding dangerously.
Since you can't slow/stop as effectively as a bike with brakes it must be one or the other.EDIT: what tmy said

Yep and I'm just the kind of guy who would be anal about originality so if you wanna sell shit on keep it
realoriginal.
the frame and campy 165's would be enough, what a haul!!
