Yay, I've always loved these frames, you keeping the finish standard or powdercoating it? Lo-profile rims or super deep? HHSB or proper track machine style (Bullhorns excluded)? I'm very excited for this.

This is a mock up of what I intend to do to my dad's 1960s Falcon San Remo. The frame and forks are currently stripped and on route to be rechromed but I intend to restore the bike to its original colours once I get it back. While the frame is away, I've got some cleaning to do to the old components it had on it but I am pleased with how the new San Marco saddle and matching handlebar grips are going to look with the ebay wheels I bought.

That looks pretty messed up what are those rims meant to be 1960's baby blue deep v's? Surely low profile period rims? If your going to the effort of re chroming , polishing period parts etc get period saddle , wheels blah blah my 2p your bike so whatever... If you enjoy it my comments are worth poo....

Velo Orange wheelset FTW, well priced with decent hubs and rims match those of a classic polished steel one without the weight;
They cost something like £135 which is great value for money.

disagree. i snapped one of their seatposts on the weekend

• #40688
how? riding or over-tightening the seat?
-
• #40689
definitely not over-tightening, i never crank down on seat posts.
the bit highlighted in red, snapped off.
i do play bike polo which may have added stress to it, but still. wtf

VO offer 1 year replacement warranty. I would take it back where you bought it and get a replacement or if that doesn't work contact VO. Although you would have to ship it to the States.

Wanted bigger risers and found these old alu ones with a funky brace on 'em and thought I'd try them out for kicks. They're actually really comfortable which may have something to do with the considerable amount of backsweep they have, think I'm gonna leave them on for a while until I'm more endowed financially at least.

Another question if that's okay
I want to strip all the paint off one of my bikes, mostly frame and fork but would like to strip the paint off the cranks and rims
any tips? I don't really know what I'm doing....

Ah thanks man, looks quite straight forward
I should of really searched myself, sorry....

Paint stripper paired with steel wool/ brush for stripping frame and fork. As for rims and cranks, more likely that they're anodized which stripper will have no effect on. If you want those stripped a bath in any caustic solution will do the job nicely.
