Just arrived:
Which is:
A "Fix and Mix" bundle, which seemed like a good deal. Will be assembled from parts taken off my Charge Plug Freestyler to begin with, as well as parts that came in the bundle. I chose to go with Midge bars as I've been considering them on my daily commute bike for a while but not gotten around to buying any.
got the exact same box sitting here...waiting for some parts and the action is go! didnt take the mix deal though...its gonna be all brown and gold...pics soon...

I kinda figured it was worth going for the deal. I can safely say I'll be ditching the seatpost/saddle combo though. They didn't have black, so ended up with white, and it's really not my thing!
Equally the "fixy pop" tyres shudder...

shimano r600.

Black seatpost, stem, hoods and bartape?
-
• #40316
I would prefer black tape, hoods and saddle, leave the post and stem as they are
-
• #40317
I would keep it silver & white on the hoods and bartape for classic looks.

Mmm. To be honest I'm planning to weld a rack onto it, add some mudguards and swap to a moustache bar when I can afford a fancy new roadie. Might just leave it as it is.

^This, maybe a black stem if that's what floats your boat, but if not silver stem and seatpost, with black contacts looks great and is much more practical. I did it recently with my Concorde and really pleased with the results!
The chain should be here tomorrow, got some Basso pursuit bars and soyo grips to try out different positions.
@IdealStandard stop hating on my stem man! :P But yeah a bit too long and not steep enough maybe...

Velo Orange may be releasing those soon;

That's really lovely. What were those lovely custom racks I saw in porn recently? Some framebuilder starting to make racks? I think I'd go for a homemade welded rack though, just weld it onto the frame and lacquer over the welds, a bit ratty but should look cool. Cloth tape on the bars.

Why would you ruin that bike with all these racks?!
-
• #40323
Hardly ruined if you can keep it simple and classy, much like how Fast Boy Cycle did with the rear rack;
Or even like the Robin Mather;

It wasn't very expensive. I really want a porteur style bike too, I'll probably go for a front rack though to be honest.

I wouldn't put a front rack on those kind of bike - it'll really affect the steering to the point that I'm struggling to turn it during a corner (I've tried with my Colnago).
thats so damn nice! i am very jelous, bars suit it great
i just put some like that on my conversion, not sure i like them yet
