Glad you kept it and are happy with the result...
Now you've posted it here you will always have nagging doubts about what you have done. Every time you ride it you will think 'what if I'd kept the chrome, how cool would that have been'............

tThe chrome was completely perished and I mean perished, what you cant see ids all the pitting, underneath the bottom bracket and the area under the forks was completely knackered, anyway each to his own, it was completely beyond saving, Lord knows I would have if I could have

I know it's your bike, and I'm sure you like it, but Wayne, you've really fucked that up.
What on earth possessed you to paint over the rear stays and the forks?
FGG might be a better place to post this.
I didnt paint it Bob Jacksons in leeds did a full strip down and respray, the chrome was knackered, worn through on the rear stays to to metal and falling off under the bottom bracket!! , you can't see it as the pic isnt up close, Jacksons said it may be able to repair the front folks but it would have cost a fortune, absolutely, there were more spots of damage to it than a teenagers face!!
I love it and in the end thats all that counts Jacksons did an incredible spray job, the Chrome as I say was completely gone and had holes through to the steel
and in the end you have to do what your wallet tells you, id rather have a nice looking frame than look at rotting chrome any day of the week ,

The above is a shite picture, and the frame looks very nice in the for sale thread. Too much white mate, especially stem and bar tape. Silver or black rims would've been better too.

This looks shithot! Nice work...
Makes me want to get mine restored to original colours even more...Cheers, was a fair bit of cash for the respray (Mercian) but considering what I paid for the whole bike I felt it was worth it.

I agree on the white maybe something for the future, I specifically went for black and white as a nod to my fav rugby team

This was a lovely bike and the paint looked in good nick. You've Genesis-d it into oblivion

I think with more classic styled wheels (like open pros or VO box rims on any silver hubs), silver bars and a quill stem (or just silver a-head stem), and black leather tape to match the saddle, it would look much better. Or maybe it needs a dash of colour in there - perhaps blue tape and blue lug-lining.

I'd butt the tubes more than that one on the left. Otherwise the bike'll weigh a fecking ton.

it's a nice bike, you found the reach to be too long with a normal stem?

- Dura-Ace 7710 BB / cranks / chainring
- Dura-Ace headset
- Wheels are CXP33 on Dura-Ace 7710 with DT Revolution spokes
- EAI Superstar sprocket
- KMC D-101 chain
- Nitto S83 seatpost
- Nitto Pearl stem
- Nitto B-125AA bars
- San Marco Zoncolan saddle

- And some Sunday best Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX tyres (that might get swapped for something a bit more practical in due course)
I'll sort some proper shots out, probably at the weekend.
