So you can discover whether the invoice date for VAT purposes is today or the date the goods were shipped :-)

Still going to try and get it through the company, they were supposed to be delivered to work and I have a serious problem with giving the Irish government money for something that is fuck all of their business.

Ah, I was assuming UK, where we have the bonus of 20% VAT from today, up from 17.5% yesterday. As you're already getting hit for 21%, it seems churlish of us to complain about today's rise.

Does it bollox. If you can't complain about that, life's not worth living.

My new project - Unfortunately budget dictates that it's going to be a mix of old parts from my current bike & a couple of new bits, but the plus side is that this one will actually fit!

Lovely, did you buy direct? What size?

Oh no, turning into a nodder. Wanted to get some kind of utility bike with a rack and internal gears.
I really like the Singular Peregrine but the inability to put a proper rack on it is a bit of a letdown. Then I was looking at the Pompetamine and the low price was tempting even though it looks like
a turd and I would have to strip the bike and have it resprayed immediately. I also
wasn't too happy with the components they offer. But then I saw this on offer at chainreactioncycles:
Insane low price for the components it has. Not perfect due to lack of horizontal dropouts or EBB but I can live with that.
So my project of building up a nice bike slowly from components has been reduced to "add to cart" -

my red bike is also my utlilty bike, with alfine 11, disc brake, MTB geo, alu mudguard, EBB, mount for trailer, strong rear rack etc.
Check out Velorution and Bikefix for more choice (especially bikefix who tend to focus more on utility/commuter bike).

The tout terrain metropolitan from bikefix is probably the best utility/commute bike out there.

trike is slowly coming together. here is the frame from christiania
I need to build a 24" rear wheel for it. I've settled for this hub
http://www.sturmey-archer.com/products/hubs/cid/4/id/33courtesy of the old bike trader who I can not recommend enough. can anyone recomend a rim? can mostly just find dh rims which seem a bit overkill.
I've had the base of the trailer modified by my friendly local steel fabricators. The original frame was just square. I've had more supports for the frame attachment added. Also the wheels need to be lowered by 5cm and there needs to be mounts for the brakes. The stubby sticky out bits do all this.
next step is drilling and filing to get it all to fit together. just need some spare time!

I spend a long time looking at all those websites. I really like the tout terrain but its
way more than I wanted to spend. From buying various bikes over the years I learned that I enjoy the medium priced ones the most.
They work well and I am not scared to break anything or leave them locked outside.I am really looking forward to using the lumotec IQ cyo. Years ago I had a Schmidt
SON with a halogen light and it was great, can only get better now with the
durability and brightness of LED. -

Thanks! Yeah got it straight from them, I rang before I ordered and they said it would take 6 weeks but fortunately it came in 3 which was a nice surprise!
It's a 24+1/2". Can't wait to get it finished now - just need some spacers (should be arriving soon), then someone to cut the steerer.

can anyone recomend a rim?
For which tyre? For a trike, which puts big side loads on the tyre, I'd err on the side of wider rims.

For the single wheel at the back - no side loads - the same mounting as a conventional rear wheel. The tyre will be a big apple 24"x2" which is a 507-50 in real dimensions. I can only find a no-name rim from sjs that isnt dh or bmx cruiser specific. Most of these seem to be wider than I'd like and quite heavy. Am I looking in the wrong place?

It worked! It worked!!!
left a nasty mark on the inside of the stem gap but who cares!!!

If you really believe that, you need to go back to tricycle school. How do you think Morgan drivers get the back end swinging around if there is no side load on the rear wheel? I'd go for a Nimbus, on the grounds of being cheap and wide enough to support a 50mm Big Apple properly on something which doesn't lean.
Edit: Just seen a Christiana style trike with a Big Apple on the back, took a good look at the rim (as good as you can in traffic, anyway) and it looked to be 35-40mm wide.

too late I already ordered the cube. the merida is really nice but adding all the extra bits
to bring it up to the same level would make it quite a bit more expensive.
Box of parts arrives... Need to pay Duty...
