The magic gear myth will kick you in the teeth.
I'm running a magic gear on my current bike and (apart from the first week stretching the chain) i've had no problems. I guess it helps if you can measure properly and know exactly what GI you want to run. I agree not a good idea for a first bike or one that you want to run with a double sided hub tho. If you get it right it's gravy, you're not gonna pull the wheel out of the dropouts.

I wish you the very best of luck ! :)
It is absolute myth that you can stretch a chain in a week !
It is absolute myth that you can stretch a chain at all ! You can wear the bushings out, but this takes considerable more time than a few days, maybe a few months if you never stop riding. (!)
It sounds as if you have got it sorted, but have you though about an eccentric BB ?

shadow conspiracy II....
but yeah, eccentric BB (or hub) will also do, so if it all goes wrong that'll be the next option. on another bike I'd dremel out a couple of mm from the dropouts too, but not on this one.

Yeah, that's what I did on my Klein, Dremel'ed myself a few mm of movement into the dropouts.
